Eden With an Edge

A paradise of turquoise blue, lush vegetation, and entertainment, Pattaya is a kind of Eden: sometimes as peaceful as its temples and coral banks, and sometimes loose and edgy.  

Pattaya Beach is the liveliest area of the city. It runs parallel to the center of the city and the entertainment area, reaching its end near the racy Walking Street. It includes shopping venues like the CentralFestival Pattaya Beach, one of the biggest shopping malls in Asia.

If you went there for the girlie bars 10 out of 10. Walking street was disappointing from the street. The baht busses were good but you had to plan your trip according to the direction the buses went. Plenty of good food places at reasonable prices. Shopping centres catered for expensive tastes.

I have been to Pattaya many times.

I have been to Pattaya many times. The last three times was to obtain major dental treatment. I am impressed with the dentist and the dental services. Otherwise, Pattaya is gradually losing its magic. Local travel on Baht buses, Bolt, and Grab is very good value for money. Cheap clothes and footwear are finished. It's cheaper in K-Mart in Australia. Unless you buy street food, eating out is expensive. Drinks can be expensive in many venues, though not all. I went to bars ang go-go bars only and ate street food. Many local Thais looked unhappy. It's not the land of Smiles anymore. Too many little scams make Thailand irritating for tourists. No wonder people are going elsewhere. The bus services are hard to understand, especially at the North Road Bus Station. You need a proper website to explain the bus services.

Many tourists…manage expectations. Beachside has everything from bars, massage facilities, restaurants and retail shopping. If you’re a hot tea drinker…sometimes difficult to find. Try the street food. It’s delicious, cheap and safe to eat.

Staying at Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 is a good location (close to the beach & bars / walking street). The price for the room with breakfast included was the best thing because it allowed me to stay for 29 nights. The options of eating street food or at restaurants close by is also an advantage. I would recommend staying at the hotel to friends & will come back again in the future. The staff are all friendly, in particular Earth.

Fast motorcycles driving on Soi Buakhao.

Fast motorcycles driving on Soi Buakhao. Can be dangerous walking. Cars and motor cycles don't always yield to pedestrians even in crosswalks when traffic lights are present. Baht Buses always yield to pedestrians. Great mode of transportation.

Opinion is divided on pattaya as lots of people see it as just an adult entertainment city and nothing else but there is so much more too it. Due to the vast array of different people who visit pattaya there are hundreds of diverse shops restaurants and services which cater to all cultures and tastes and you can sample them all there is no frowning on of ethnic backgrounds in pattaya you can be from anywhere and you will be welcomed. Another interesting thing about this place is it is very busy yet you can find many tranquil relaxing places to chill amongst the madness. It’s a must visit place and you will find it infinitely interesting if nothing else.

I've been to Thailand many times over the last 10 years and this is only hotel that is as described. Spotless like new, state of the art air conditioning, shower perfect for everyone's needs. 32inch smart TV. Staff give a warm welcome. You will need Thb 1000 deposit on arrival against damage to the room. All the local aminaties within 2 minutes walk. Next door is Cheap Charlie's a English owned Bar Restaurant, here you can have all your home favourites for less than 200 Thb.

Soi 2 Inn is great value for money. Located on Soi 2 between Beach Road and Second Road, you have easy access to the baht buses to take you where you need to go. It is a welcoming hotel, with the staff always friendly and smiling. Rooms were spacious, clean, and reasonably modern with flat scree tvs from which you can access the likes of Netflix, etc. A short walk (maybe 150 metres) to Second Road and you have Central Marina, with Terminal 21 a little further up the road.

I’ve stayed at this hotel more than 10 times. The main reason I keep returning is the service from the staff and the location. Because I’m driving it’s very convenient to be able to exit either to beach road or second road. It saves a lot of time when there is a heavy traffic. Again, the staff are great. The front desk staff are very helpful and polite.
