A lovely city with interesting history, architecture and a very active nightlife. In particular, the San Antonio Mission and the River Walk are amazing! My favourite city in Texas, so far! We Tacos at Down on Grayson then went to Pat O’Briens for the live music. We ate at a couple of places on the River Walk including Durty Nellies. A word of warning - don’t try to park a car in Downtown on a Saturday night - Uber and the electric scooters are far less hassle! Make some time to travel out to the Missionss!
Great time with family but my hotel was horrible. Red Room Inn off Wolfe Road. Their cleanness was trash. I had my two year old daughter with me and my in laws. I am probably taken off of being able to book trips because of how horrible the hotel was. I would never purposely book here if the photos were actually accurate. I am still so embarrassed. They’re probably not going to let me book anymore trips because of this. ☹️ So disappointing.
A beautiful friendly city. It’s a gem of a place. Market squares tucked away with restaurants and shops plus big bars in town if you want them. The riverside walk is amazing both night and day. Really easy to get around. The Alamo is definitely worth a visit and check out leaflets in hotel got an audio tour for free so only cost 7 dollars for two people. In the market square try out la Margarita Mexican and Oyster bar the food was spectacular.
The Alamo being free but would recommend the audio tour. Get the bus 40 to visit the 4 missions $2.70 all day pass , good walk between the missions on a excellent footpath ,nice scenery but no refreshments. Only recommend if you are a good walker Also remember to take water. The Riverside walk downtown , very pretty both day & night with plenty of restaurants , bars etc.The water bus around the loop excellent value , we did it at night in the dark with everything lit up. Look out for the laser show on a Sunday night about 9pm on the San Fernado Cathedral excellent. We only had 2 full days so never visited the High Observation tower. Also were lucky to see The Red Bull Last event around the Alemo Square a cycle race running all day. Would recommend 3/4 days to really enjoy . We walked everywhere ( no car )
San Antonio has changed a lot. Downtown is pretty nice and I definitely recommend seeing the Spanish mission. Most of the culture is in downtown or the Westside. The north side is a bit newer and of course, there's Sea World and Fiesta Texas. They have a lot of great restaurants. If you like Mexican food, I recommend Mamacitas off of I-10 W and Salsalitos. Another good place that is smaller is Rocky's. They stay open pretty late. If you like Chicken Fried Steak, then I recommend Lulu's in downtown. Also, San Antonio is home to H-E-B which is the main grocery store in town. They have pretty good stuff and their prices are reasonable. The traffic can get pretty bad and some of the roads can get very dangerous, especially when you are merging onto Loop 1604 from the access road. If you like German culture, then I recommend going to New Braunfels which is about 40 miles north on I-35. Also Austin the state capitol is about an hour north.
We did a college tour, sampled local cuisine (Mexican and Texas BBQ) on the Riverwalk and learned some history at the Alamo. Sadly the San Fernando Cathedral light show wasn’t working on our last night so we didn’t get to see it. We also got in some school clothes shopping and had our annual stop at an In and Out.

The location of the hotel was perfect. It was right by the airport and mall and it had many many restaurants surrounding it. It was also only about a 15 minute drive from downtown, so you could get to the riverwalk in no time. The room was very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The hotel was also very quiet throughout the day and night. The hotel also provides maps, brochures and coupon books to different places to help those who may be on vacation or just visiting. Overall great stay and I will be going back.

Not to be confused with the Drury Inn & Suites around the corner) Fab hotel right on the riverwalk. Room size was above average, comfy bed and the jacuzzi tub was great (st fernando tower). Shampoo & conditioner was fab - would love to buy it! Free breakfast and evening hot food with cocktails (3 pppn) were the icing on the cake for this reasonably priced hotel. The indoor pool & spa were fine, didnt try the rooftop pool so cant comment on that.

Lovely clean hotel with large spacious rooms..The free breakfast is always an added bonus..There is a supermarket across the street that sells lots of meal options for the microwave as well as lots of salads and fresh fruit...If you like Mexican food there are restaurants in walking distance at the market place....The hop on bus is right outside, but we opted for the $6 cab ride to the Alamo, as you can easily walk to the riverwalk from there

Location, clean and I felt safe in the hotel. It was quite and you can see the hotel is really trying to update its rooms and overall appearance. I appreciate that because everyone loves to stay in updated affordable hotels. I had no problem with my room keys. Also the water in the shower drained perfectly. I will request the same room anytime I plan on staying at the Red Roof plus Riverwalk San Antonio.

The staff was very welcoming and made sure I had a map of the town and let me know about the drink specials in the bar that was located inside the hotel. Check in was quick and service was excellent. The hotel was located very close to the Riverwalk and Alamo and pretty much most of the things to do downtown. I prefer to walk everywhere I can so this was the perfect location.

Such a gorgeous boutique hotel right on the Riverwalk. Restaurant and bar were beautiful with delicious food and drinks. Fully stocked fridge and snacks in the room. Bed was very comfortable and the room was beautifully decorated. It is situated directly on the river in the quiet area just a short walk to the busy tourist attractions and restaurants.

What we loved about this hotel was the Mexican style decor! Beautiful furniture, tap fixtures and pretty tiles on the walls. There was also free on-site parking and the wifi was good. It is about a 25 min walk to the Riverwalk. Very basic breakfast included, I wouldn’t bother with it.

The motel was really clean and has everything like a hotel for a cheap price. Is 15 min away from Sea World and 20 min from Downtown. I would definitely stay again. I read some bad reviews about the area and parking, and I didn't see nothing wrong with it, I always felt secure.

The hotel was close to everything, walking distance to restaurants and shops. We loved the heated pool. We came down from Fort Worth Tx to see the parade of lights on the riverwalk. It was very nice. We will definitely stay at this Marriott again.

But other than that, loved the location,so close to a part of the Riverwalk. I had not been to that side. Thehotel had a great Tropicana ambience. Valet service was pretty quick too. It was a good time to visit San Antonio.

Pleasant hotel, the place is currently being refurbished but this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy your stay. It's conveniently situated just a 10 minute walk from the main riverwalk.

I choose The Menger Hotel because of its history. I had a wonderful time just wandering around looking at antique furniture, lovely pictures and interesting little touches- antique trunks on a landing as a surprise decorative touch. The buffet breakfast offered a wide choice.Staff in the Colonial Room Restaurant were friendly. Reception Staff were friendly and efficient and quickly sorted out an error on my bill. My one night stay was just what I needed after a long flight. Location opposite The Alamo is great.

Probably the best bed I have ever slept in. Same goes for the pillows - not hard and not hollow, just the right softness. Rooms are large and well designed and extremely clean. Excellent food (probably the best we had in San Antonio) which we ate at the bar counter. Bar staff incredibly helpful and very very polite. Complimentary breakfast was minimalistic but sufficient and in good taste.
