Cottages in Calibishie

We loved the location, the view, the beach nearby, the main roads a short drive away, the proximity to Pagua Bay. We also like the natural bug repellent and cream for bites available. The mosquito net was a big plus.

Everything. Amber and Simon are lovely hosts. The location and environment is spectacular and great for a peaceful getaway.

The host, Susan, was friendly and helpful. She met us on arrival and departure and checked in with us. The cottage is located right on the seafront. The Calibishie shoreline is a pretty strip with houses, palms, and some sand. You can't swim because the water is too shallow up close, and too rough further out. It is great to sit on the terrace and enjoy the view out to Guadalupe (when the weather is clear) or along the coast to the red rock formations. We loved hiking up the farm roads through plantations above town. Shop is 50 meters down the road. There is street food and 2 decent restaurants in town, with 2-3 fresh dishes available each evening (don't rely on the menu; ask what there is). The cottage was spacious, clean, and functional. There are two bedrooms, each for 2 people, so it is comfortable for 4 people. There is also a couch, and a futon on the loft. The loft is only partially finished and it gets warm up there. You could fit more than 4 people, but it would start getting crowded. The kitchen has the views on two directions (west and north) out on the bay; the other rooms don't have much view. The terrace is large, covered from the rain, with excellent views to the west, north, and east. The front porch offers a place to sit and watch the traffic and people from the village pass by, if you enjoy that. There is a picnic table right next to the water, if the terrace is not close enough for you. The kitchen is well equipped with stove, fridge, toaster, and microwave. Wifi was pretty good, for a location like this. The beds were comfortable enough and everything was clean (some sand, salt, etc. is always blowing in on the breeze). The bathroom was fine, with acceptable hot water. Temperatures inside were comfortable during our stay, both night and day. Sites to visit nearby: rainforest trails; chocolate factory; plantation hikes; several beach scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean; village bars.
