We stayed at Leon Hilltop Resort, Kitulgala, and it was a truly memorable experience. Although the owner was not there in person, he made sure everything was perfectly arranged for us. He arranged for Sampath to meet us before the location and assist us to the property, which was very thoughtful. Sampath was extremely helpful and friendly. We were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink upon arrival. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. While the resort doesn't have its own restaurant, they asked what we wanted for dinner and even brought it from outside during heavy rain, something we truly appreciated. For breakfast, we requested string hoppers, and they kindly arranged rice, bread, and string hoppers. The place is peaceful, very clean, and offers a stunning mountain view. The entire staff, including two other team members whose names we unfortunately didn’t get, were kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The owner also kept in touch with us throughout our stay to ensure everything was going smoothly. This experience exceeded our expectations and was absolutely worth more than what we paid. Even though we are locals, we were treated with the same care and respect as any guest which is rare. After a tiring field visit to Makandawa Forest Reserve, the calm atmosphere and excellent service made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you to everyone at Leon Hilltop Resort. The location is absolutely beautiful. The pool has a Bali like view. And the best part about the stay is the owner who is absolute gem of a host. She is so hospitable and understanding. We could share any concerns with her. It’s a proud female owned stay which makes women feel very welcome. This was one of the very few stays we felt very welcome at.
