My cards were not accepted. Thanks to Mr Tony's help I was able to check in, he paid for the taxi and even gave me presents for my birthday. What was supposed to be a horrible day ended well because the hotel staff assisted me beyond what I could have expected. I will never forget it. The Tianhe Sports Centre is relatively close to the hotel. The Guangzhou Opera House is about 5km away. I found the facilities impressive, and the staff were friendly and professional.
