Grampians Pioneer Cottages are a real gem near Halls Gap @ the heart of the Grampians. We stayed here for the second time - this time with our family. We admired the visit of many kangaroos, emus, birds … who were literally at our doorstep, enjoyed the fabulous fireplace in the evening. What an unforgettable experience. Love nature so enjoyed visiting MacKenzie Falls which has paths to viewing points for people of all abilities; even has a “resident” emu! Plenty of places for hiking. Halls Gap Zoo is a fabulous place to visit with so many birds and animals to see and interact with. Good choice of places to eat - we particularly thought The Kookaburra Hotel and the Halls Gap Hotel Bistro were particularly good with great food, great service, great atmosphere and great staff. Avoid Halls Gap Tavern at all costs! Plenty of accommodation options in most price ranges (best to avoid Kookaburra Lodge Motel if you want value for money and want even the bare minimum of housekeeping!) Basic shopping centre … but they DO have great ice cream and tasty fish and chips available there and a big playground for families with younger children. Beware the kangaroos as you drive around, they are everywhere at any given time of the day. Beautiful place to relax and enjoy.

Absolutely stunning, it had been years since i was there last and once again the friendliness of all the staff at the shops and attractions around could not be faulted. Let alone the food options in and around Halls Gap - Barneys Barn - Pomonel Estate , Indian , boutique beers and ciders, there are so many , you will never go hungry. The local Zoo is a highlight- go the extra mile and book a animal experience - Red Pandas are adorable. Halls Gap is a gem of Victoria and is well worth the visit. There is something there for everyone, you can be as active or as relaxed as you prefer.

The Grampians National Park is excellent for walking and hiking at any time of the year. Halls Gap has a variety of accommodation types from camping to higher end. There are various places to eat, from usual so-so pub food to good quality food including vegan. We are at the Kookaburra which had excellent food (including vegetarian) served with delicious vegetables rather than chips and The Spirit of Punjabi which always serves excellent food (by robot now!). It also has a range of delicious vegan dishes. If you are into art and creativity check out Grampians Textures and Grampians Brushes - both are packed full of excellent workshops.

There are enough shops and bars for a short stay, and the location is excellent for exploring the trails in the area. The tourist information centre was helpful but wasn't quite up to speed with some trail closures which appear.tto have been made some time ago. Overall Halls Gap is a great place to stay for an adventure break.

    I love the Grampians.

I love the Grampians. Lots of lovely walks and scenery and Halls Gap has great restaurants. Unfortunately the cultural centre is closed and sone of the galleries in the areas were not open . But the wineries are worth a visit and certainly the Hall’s Gap pub. Excellent chef with great food and views .

Halls Gap Zoo was excellent - casual and all the keepers were very friendly, informative and helpful. The many local sights were amazing. Beware! Most businesses close early - not easy to find food after 6 pm! The boutique shopping area, although small, was excellent.

This is hidden jem in Grampians national park in halls Gap. The owners are so welcoming and cool. We stayed for 3 nights and all the 3 nights they provided us free wood for the wood fire. Every little aspect of ours they look after. The wild life was always on the property. Wild Emus, Deer and kangaroos always at the back yard of the property. Your bed room is facing the jungle and wild life was just at your door step. So beautiful so calming as you awake in the morning for the beautiful noices of wild Emus and kangaroos.

Everything was spick and span, we had comfy beds to sleep in, and the log fire kept us nice and toasty. The property is very close to the Halls Gap centre, but not so close that the noise from the caravan park reached us. Across the main street, at the cultural centre, are a few very nice short walks as well, which was bonus. It was a good base from which to do day hikes. The kitchen is well equipped, and it was easy to self-cater.

Fantastic location, restaurant on site (great big hardy meals, even better after a hiking) animals (emu, Roos, birds) for the kids to feed. Pool. Great size family room (highly recommended with a young family - queen bed, two singles) , comfortable, clean. The owners are absolutely fantastic and will make you feel right at home! They work bloody hard, could not speak more highly! - Totally value for money - will for sure be back.

The chalet was very comfortable, clean, roomy with spa bath, walking distance to a great Indian restaurant & shops. The chalet has everything we needed. Privacy around the chalet was excellent. The carport was nice & big. Our chalet was no. 3. The owner Peter was a gentleman, although he's retiring to NSW :( (but of course we wish you all the best Peter). The patio around the chalet was also nice.

What a magical stay over the Easter long weekend. Tucked away in Halls Gap, we hired a group of the cabins and enjoyed every minute of it. Decor is modern, each cabin self-contained with just about all appliances you can think of. Coming from the city, it’s the best sleep we’ve had in months, albeit under the stars. It’s that good, we’ve already booked to come back next year.

The location was excellent to the main area of Halls Gap. The room was large and all essential items were in the room, e.g. toaster, crockery, microwave etc. The bed was very comfortable. Parking was close to room access. Lovely aspect looking towards the Grampians. If we could be critical the room was a little tied. Value for money very good for a family stay.

The cabin was fantastic, They are very homely and it was a great weekend had by the whole family. It was great being able to have a BBQ dinner and there was plenty of room for the kids to get outside and play. The open fire was nice and the fact they brought you wood each day so we could have a fire each night was a nice touch. The kids also loved the spa bath.
