My spouse and I had a few days to spend between our completed Alaska cruise and then flying to Europe for an additional 3 weeks of vacation so we decided on visiting Vancouver Island, a place neither of us had ever been to. We chose not to rent a car and travelled via BC Connect, a bus company which worked out perfectly.
We thoroughly enjoyed Victoria, a beautiful small city of 400K residents, half retired. Lots of things of interest for everyone including a tour of the Provincial Gov't buildings. Excellent choice of restaurants other than The Spaghetti Warehouse which was terrible!

I come from a small city and I found the traffic heavy. We were here for a family get-together so did not do much sightseeing this time, but I know the views of the harbour are beautiful and the wharf is interesting. We did not do a carriage ride this time but we will next time.

Victoria is a very clean city and is very walkable if you do not have a car.
Make sure you check out Beacon Hill Park for a lovely walk and don't miss the turtles who sleep on the logs in the ponds!
Quiet room. I just wanted somewhere to sleep and explore Victoria, so I found the place just right. It is on Douglas Street, a main one into downtown Victoria. I could walk to the main seafront in about 20 minutes, or catch one of the many buses. an all day bus ticket is five dollars. The room itself was roomy - two double beds and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Comfortable bed, microwave and coffeemaker. And The Castello cafe next door does a wide choice of breakfasts!
We loved our accommodations, the room was clean and inviting. The staff were kind enough to bring our luggage to our room after a soft check in when the room was ready. Although it can be challenging to find child-friendly activities and restaurants in Victoria, the customer service staff were very knowledgeable and gave us excellent activity and food recommendations. The hotel is within walking distance or a short taxi ride to many desired attractions in town.
We were welcomed as if we were the most important guests ever to check in. Quiet location yet so close to downtown and the Mayfair Mall.
The young man at the desk ( Eric? - I am sorry not sure) was so polite and helpful. Your restaurant was closed for renovations ( not mentioned on your web site) and we had invited friends to join us for breakfast. Hie recommendation was superb. Without doubt, you are our go to hotel in Victoria
The location is very convenient. We travel to a hotel using the BC transit bus (from Victoria Swartz Bay terminal to Downtown). The bus stop is next to the hotel. We stayed at the hotel for one night, and the beds were perfect. At the check-in, the staff is super friendly. They allowed us to keep our bags in a safe room before checking. Therefore, we didn't carry them when we travelled to the downtown area.
James Bay Inn was a wonderful Hotel within walking distance of Victoria downtown. It had a pub and restaurant which, because of our later arrival we decided to go to. We were not disappointed. We stayed in the one bedroom suite with a pullout couch. The owners also allowed our friend to leave her bags at the hotel after we checked out, as her ferry to Seattle was much later than ours to Vancouver.
The Oswego Hotel was lovely to stay at! Me and my husband stayed in a studio suite for two nights and it was perfect! The location was so nice - it was only about a 10 minute walk to downtown Victoria. We found a beautiful walk just steps away from the Hotel, its called the David Foster Harbour Pathway. The bed was really comfy too! Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend :)
This is the BEST hotel in Victoria. The staff, the location and the ambiance are perfection. You can get to everywhere in the downtown location. The harbor is right in front of the hotel so all of the sightseeing opportunities are right in front of you. The bar and the restaurant are amazing. try the gin cocktail.
The staff was busy, but maintained friendliness and efficiency. The location couldn't have been better for us as it was right across the street from the Victoria Clipper. It was very easy to walk around the Inner Harbour from the hotel. The price was right for a one night stay.
Loved the room, the balcony with the view, and the facilities. The swimming pool was wonderful, and the hot tub and sauna were a nice surprise. The hotel is a bit out of the way but still within walking distance from downtown Victoria, and it is close to Fisherman's Wharf.
It was 15 minutes from downtown Victoria and the price is one of the cheapest we could find. The place is clean and the person at the reception was able to change us from a 2 single bed to a queen size bed (as we requested but nobody answered).
the hotels location is excellent the rooms are spotless, the breakfast was amazing all in all this is the best value for a hotel within blocks of all the sites of Victoria. A wonderful couple of days spent here.
Great location very close to downtown Victoria.
The room was nice with a view on the BC parliament building.
The staff was also very nice. We really enjoyed our stay here
