I love my home from home in the mountains. It is easily accessible by car and public transport. There are numerous things to do in the region and places to go, many of which are free.
One of my favourites was the hike up the steps over the Gorge Dailly, all 638 steps up! This is reached by train from Monthey Gare to Salvan.
I have enjoyed many hikes around the mountain in all directions from the front door and of many different durations and difficulties. Most of which usually entail a stop at an eatery on route. Some of my favourites include: Bellevue, La Caveragne, and Les Rives. I also take time to stop and take in views and study many creatures enroute!
The most awesome was the hike to the Trient Glacier from Col De Forclaz again it had a fantastic cafe where you could sit and admire the view as well as the food!
Other cultural visits include the: Chateaux De Chillon just outside Montreux, the art gallery in Martingy where Picasso and many other famous artists have been celebrated. The Roman remains here are also worth investigating, so is the St Bernard Dog centre which is close to the motorway junction.
A must is the train ride to Chateaux Dex, together with the visits to the Cheese factory and Nestle chocolate factories also via train from Montreux.
I also like to make the experience of sharing my home with guests who will appreciate that it is also my home and treat it as such. This is why we like to go the extra mile and provide a few creature comforts such as quality towels, bathroom accessories and kitchen accessories as well as something for you to make a drink with on your arrival.
I hope by meeting and explaining everything to you you can start to relax more quickly and enjoy the beautiful surroundings the area has to offer.
By doing this we hope that like many guests you will return year after year.
If there is anything we have missed in our efforts to welcome you to Val D'Illiez please do let us know, we are here to help.
