Very comfortable and clean rooms. The hotel is close to the airport so we booked it for the first night afer we arrived. The staff helped me with the issue, though it was first difficult to find a person responsible for this task. Breakfast was good and varied.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo is a big busy city, full of friendly people who are always willing to help the lost tourist. The Metro system is excellent, buses are plentiful and taxis are cheap. I've been there five times so far and will go again. Traffic is dense, but no worse than most modern cities. You may find the friendliness of the people a little overwhelming and intimidating, but don't worry. They have no ulterior motive and are only trying to be helpful. The Egyptians are probably the friendliest people in the world, and that's coming from an Irishman!

I stayed two days and you don't need any longer to walk...

I stayed two days and you don't need any longer to walk through the city centre, visit the mosques and go to the pyramids and egyptian museum. The pyramids are impressive but the rest of it is not worth it given the awful treatment from the people here and the abuse to horses and camels in the area. I ended up spending more than double the money I had budgeted because of hidden costs and lack of transparency with prices and what is actually included with each entry ticket. It's the first time I firmly believe I don't want to return to a city I've visited. They don't respect their own inheritance and the security staff of all attractions are there to encourage you to skip the rules so that you slide them a bit of cash. They'd even let you get inside the pharaonic sarcophagus for a fiver if they think nobody else is looking (I've seen it). Also there's so many people harassing you in the street just because you're a tourist. It's sad to see how people are so driven to squeeze all the money out of you. And they're unashamed about it. No intention to make you feel at home.

A beautiful history and culture, but you really need a guide...

A beautiful history and culture, but you really need a guide and driver to go anywhere, be it the crazy traffic or just understanding what's being said to you, you can't get around without the combination of both. Depending on your interests, you can spend about 3-4 days in the actual city center, a day trip to Alexandria being about a 3,5 hour drive two ways is also an option for another day here. If you want to really experience the local culture you need a good guide to take you under their wings, if they show you around you will generally be able to see and experience live in the city as it is. Going out into the street alone you will be harassed by locals nonstop, going out alone is not recommended. For those interested in a cruise on the Nile, you have the dinner cruise that's entirely for tourists, which is interesting but a total cash grab. I much more recommend you take a sailboat on the river, they are many times calmer and also not as scammy.

It is a bit of a messy place when it comes to transport. We loved downtown area and in general people is really nice. Best option is to get a good guide who can take you everywherew and takes away the hussle of being aware of everything.

Messy and hectic but if you find the right place to go, it is amazing to discover. Don't go to touristic place. Try to do research on places to visit online instead of going to the easiest touristy place, and you will feel less scammed and less people asking you for money.. Uber works so well here too not like in Hurghada.

The people that live there are so kind and welcoming.

The people that live there are so kind and welcoming. The city itself is so noisy and dirty. Most of the city looks like a war zone. The sales people can be completely rude and overwhelming. That being said, the historical side of things is unmatched in the world. The food, fruits and vegetables are amazing. After a week or so, you start to get the rhythm of the city and it sort of grows on you. Craziest drivers I've ever seen, but they somehow survive. It's a place you have to see at least once in your life.

Out of all the hotels I visited in Egypt, Kempinski stands out as the best by far. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the facilities are impeccably clean. Despite being situated in bustling and noisy central Cairo, the hotel resides in a relatively peaceful area. While there aren't many nearby dining choices, the concierge-recommended restaurants are fantastic. My friend and I loved our time at Kempinski so much that we find ourselves longing for it whenever other 5-star hotels disappoint us during our travels in Egypt.

This hotel is quite literally perfect - the location is incredible, breakfast whilst looking at the pyramids is a real highlight. The staff are absolutely fantastic, the best customer service we had whilst we stayed in Egypt, nothing was too much trouble whether that was an early or late check in, helping us with a taxi to the airport. The beds were really comfy & bathroom clean & high pressured hot water! Don’t hesitate over booking here!

Brilliant hotel and staff. The breakfast is one of the best I have seen, hotel is quite new and well-kept shower and pillows are custom-made to make you feel better. Location is great, in the middle of Cairo, you are across from the National Museum and near shopping streets. You are 10min away (by car/Uber) to the trendy district of Zamalek. The view is just incredible and the best you can book close to the pyramids. It is really comfortable but not comparable to a 5 star hotel (for example the furniture in the room.) But still it was 100% worth the money and the view from the room and the roof top is INCREDIBLE.

This hotel has the best view of the Pyramids & the price it’s very cheap for the location that it has. The rooms are clean and beds are very nice. Also the staff it’s very good. They also offered airport pick-up which it was very cheap. I fully suggest it this hotel 😊😊

Hotel is very well located if you want a place near the airport and outside the busy streets of Cairo, it has good facilities and restaurants and a wonderful spa with mostly local Egyptians working in it, definitely a good pick if you want a stay nearby Cairo airport
