Domaine de Terrac, a farm at the time, was one of the first properties to be rebuilt after the terrible events that took place on August 21, 1944 when the German Army burned 152 house almost in totality. The property was farmed for a number of years before it was sold to a family in Marseilles who used it as a summer house. In the late 1990's the property was first converted into a chambres d'hotes. The property is located a few kilometers from Rimont in a small hamlet with 8 families.
In October 2015 we first visited the property having made the decision that the Ariege was where we wanted to start a new life. After another visit in January 2016 we made the decision to take the plunge and in May 2016 we took possession of the property. Since then we have set about renovating the entire house and garden as the previous two owners did very little to maintain the property. We have both had to develop a lot of DIY skills since then as I worked in IT and Jocelyn had her of aromatherapy business. We have enjoyed the journey and are extremely pleased by how many of our neighbors have told us "you have brought life back to this house".
The hamlet of Terrac is an extremely calming place and we couldn't have asked for more friendly people to live among. Their openness to help us started from day one when all our belongings were delayed by several weeks due to the fuel strikes at the time. With an east west positioning, the views of the countryside and natural wildlife provide endless hours of enjoyment and tranquility. We very much love people to be able to come and see how a community can still exist in these times of change and uncertainty.
