From top to bottom we loved this place, in the heart of the ancient city. The huge terrace was wonderful to enjoy wine. The kitchen had everything you need. Jo was amazing and really thought of everything. I loved the decor. This was one of my favorite places we’ve stayed. Would love to return. Thank you for a perfect stay at this paradis. Merci!

New for July 2020, Petit Paradis is a 140sq m medieval house that has been completely renovated, retaining its charm but offering contemporary facilities. The house spans 3 levels, there are 2 en-suite double rooms on the 2nd floor and an open plan lounge/dining and kitchen on the top floor that opens out to a sun terrace offering great privacy and a perfect spot for relaxing and dining. It is located in the heart of Sommieres (population approx 5000) an historic medieval town. The Vidourle river runs through the town and it is crossed by Roman bridge constructed in the 1st century! The centre of the village is pedestrian only zone during the summer months, there is free parking available 400m from the house. There is a fantastic market every Saturday, practically on your doorstep, and during summer also a night market on Wednesdays and a wine festival every Monday evening. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from, and a wide array of shops.
I live in Sommieres with my husband and dog. Originally from New Zealand but I have lived in France for nearly 20 years. I've worked as a chef most of my life but for the last 3 years have been renovating the house, Petit Paradis. Its been a project to transform it into a beautiful place retaining its charm and character with a modern contemporary feel as well. I love life in France, especially Sommieres which is a lively village with a market every Saturday and summer festivities there is always something going on. We love eating out locally, and going for walks in the surrounding countryside. I also enjoy rummaging around at flea markets for old stuff!
Ideally located 30mins from Montpellier, Nimes and the Mediterranean. Sommieres has plenty to offer, lots of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops within walking distance. There are historic places to visit like the Chateau towering over the town and the Roman bridge, an emblem of Sommieres. There is a 'voie vert' which is the old railway line that has been converted into a walking/bike path all the way to Nimes, and many other walks in the surrounding countryside.
