Potter’s Cottage is a pretty, traditional three-bedroomed self-contained house in the peaceful rural hamlet of Vindefontaine (fountain of wine!), Picauville. The house itself is nearly 200 years old (c.1837) and is in the heart of the old Vindefontaine pottery area. It has three double bedrooms, all tastefully furnished, a large fully fitted kitchen/diner with working original wood-fired range and cosy lounge with beautiful log burner at its centre for the chilly evenings if needed. There is also a single truckle bed available for ‘smaller’ guests which pulls out from the middle room so seven can be accommodated if needs be. There is a large sunny garden (with plenty of off road parking) which wraps around the house and is suitable for dogs (although please note that the front of the house only has a low wall which some dogs will be able to get over). Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the downstairs of the cottage. Potter’s Cottage also has a large utility/boot room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink with hot and cold running water at your disposal, and to wash muddy paws if needs be!

The Cottage's manager, Jo, will meet all guests and is on hand nearby to answer any queries you might have.

Conveniently located just a five minute drive from the nearest village store and bar, in Pretot, or just a 7-8 minute drive to the slightly larger town of Pont L’Abbe which has a bank and cashpoint, bars, a supermarket and boulangerie etc. The much larger town of Haye-du-Puits is a 12-15 minute drive away and hosts a range of restaurants, bars, cafes, supermarkets and many shops while still retaining a village feel. The beaches of the Normandy landings to the east, (Utah, Juno, Omaha…) are just a 20-25 minute drive away (Utah) as are the spectacular beaches of Surville, Portbail and Barneville-Cartaret to the west. The house is approximately 40 minutes from Cherbourg, 70 minutes from Caen and the nearest international airports are either Caen or Rennes (2hrs 15 mins). From the house you can stroll or cycle to the woodland of Vindefontaine just a few minutes away by foot. The surrounding Normandy/Manche peninsula also has an outstanding range of activities with amazing cycle and walking trails, the famous Tapestry of Bayeux (45 minutes) and of course the historical sites of the WW2 Normandy Landings to name but a few.
