A large, spacious, Grade 2 listed building, a Victorian flat is over 3 floors. Tall ceilings, Bathroom with bath & shower enclosure. Smart 4K television. Central heating. There are 3 portable electric fires. Rooftop views of the Menai Straits to Anglesey & a leafy aspect to the rear from the kitchen window. This quirky haven is centrally situated on the high street in the harbour village of Y Felinheli. Its central base to Anglesey, Caernarfon, Llanberis, Bangor, Llandudno, Snowdonia & Snowdon. My place is a therapeutic place to stay. We do our best to ensure that my place is spotless & with soaps, clean towels, bedding as well a fully equipped kitchen. Strictly no partying. Quiet hours are strictly between 10 pm and 8 am. This is a listed building complex with neighbouring flat dwellers. The flat is accessed via a fire escape-type staircase & there are stairs within the flat. It is not wheelchair accessible & is not suitable for disabled guests. Children must be supervised at all times. The front door is up a flight of metal stairs. Furthest green door up on your left. You will first enter a hall/utility room where you can unload wet clothing/ boots. Looking forward to your visit with us and North Wales.
Arvonia Lettings was established in April 2017 & based in the historic slate port of Y Felinheli (Portdinorwic) 3 miles from Bangor. For 7 years, we have enjoyed hosting clients' breaks or work stays. I have worked in the hospitality trade for many years and this is a way of life for us. I have a family of adults, young & grandchildren, I am passionate about our local heritage the North Wales slate quarries and castles. I work for the National Trust, and I have taken on the challenge of Penrhyn Castle, Conway Suspension Bridge with the Toll House, Aberconway House in Conway. which is the oldest house in Wales. I, hope to make a difference and the challenges of bringing them back from the pandemic times. Come and see the work I am carrying out stripping Ivy off the castle and sorting out the structure, We have just completed a second series of BBC Little Treasures of the National Trust where our work was filmed. Conway Suspension Bridge has had vegetation removed from the tower structure and time for a program of repainting and sorting it out. North Wales Slate Quarries are classed as a World Heritage Site. Arvonia is part of the Quarryman's story and is also listed with CADW.
One of our most exciting tourist attractions is the Rib Ride in the Menai Straits for 4 years old upwards. There are 6 different Rib Rides to choose from, Velocity which is the fastest passenger boat in the world reaching speeds of 70mph An amazing experience to be had. There are gorgeous local walks. Dinorwic, Deniolen and Llanberis are all in the locality. In Dinorwic you can walk around (All free of charge) disused slate quarry and see historical workings of the slate mine. This area is steeped in quarry history which is awesome. Start off your history tour with The Llanberis Slate Museum, next stop is the national trust owned Penryn Castle. Lord Penryn went on to buy the slate mines of Dinorwic and surrounding areas after marrying the heiress Juliana Pennant of Penrhyn Castle. Here the next port of call is the Dinorwic miners slate cottages The breath taking views of Dinorwic simply do take your breath away. You can watch the locks in action down on the Marina. Industrial expansion gave Y Felinheli (Felin-hely, 1838) the alternative name Port Dinorwig or Port Dinorwic. this was a port for exporting the slate from the quarries that was fed with a net work of train tracks.
