The attention to detail gave the property a homely feel. It was well equipped, warm, clean and cosy. The provision of garden furniture meant we could sit out for our morning coffee which was lovely.

Property info

Built in the mid-1800s this charming former mill workers cottage is small but perfectly formed. Nestling in the pretty Alkham valley, in the village of Temple Ewell, the cottage is a little haven for couples to relax and enjoy village life surrounded by lovely scenery, great walks and the vibrant towns of Deal, Dover and Canterbury all within an easy drive. The nearby picturesque Kearsney Abbey gardens and tearoom, and the Bushy Ruff nature reserve are well worth a visit. This cosy cottage has a sitting room and kitchen on the ground floor, and upstairs is a bedroom and shower room. The garden to the rear offers a lovely sunny spot to relax after a busy day sightseeing.

Temple Ewell is a beautiful, riverside village nested in Alkham valley, a perfect place for countryside getaway. Temple Ewell is surrounded by nature reserves and conservation areas. The Lydden and Temple Ewell Downs are a National Nature Reserve which borders Temple Ewell on one side, stretching up to the neighbouring village of Lydden. The reserve consists of an area of chalk downland which is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The village was founded sometime before the 8th century and and since 18th century, Temple Ewell had two of several watermills built along the stretch of the River Dour. The vibrant towns of Deal, Dover and Canterbury all within an easy drive. The nearby picturesque Kearsney Abbey gardens and tearoom, and the Bushy Ruff nature reserve are well worth a visit.
