Dornoch is a lovely town with good mix of shops and eating places, great wee museum too with a tonne of history to marvel at. Beaches are stunning. You can walk for miles and only pass a few folk even during the peak summer period. The town itself is clean, and was very busy in the early part of the season. We loved the setting by the sea and were blessed with perfect weather. The cathedral is directly opposite the Dornoch Castle Hotel and you are free to spend as long as you like in its peaceful tranquillity with no fee to enter, unlike many commercialised cathedrals in England. It is quite a short drive up the coast to the spectacular Dunrobin Castle with its formal gardens and dramatic setting. This was the first time we had actually stayed in Dornoch and small though it is we thouroughly enjoyed our visit. There is a wonderful cathederal well worth a visit. We bought a beautiful picture at a snip from a charity shop (one of our favourite places to visit when we travel), and there is a cafe called Cocoa Mountain that sells gorgeous hot chocolate and their hot toffee and white chocolate croissants are so worth getting fat for as someone once said!Guest review byBillyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
