My mum was born in Carfin, and we visited relatives there quite frequently - mostly passed on now. My wife and I were on our way to a holiday in the highlands so we decided to break our journey in Motherwell. I was last there about fifty years ago, so everywhere was very different! Was nice being back...

Staff were doing a job, sometimes reluctantly i found. I know the problem with recruiting staff at the moment and retaining them but really someone should be overseeing their interaction with the public, nevr mind initial training.

The plus was the resturaunt the food was suprisingly good & saved having to hunt around for something to eat in an unknown area in a wet night. Lovely hotel for a stop over, we traveled from Wigan and arrived at hotel late so night porter booked s in, they were expecting us so book in was fast and easy just what you want after a long trip. room was lovely and comfortable only tiny little negative could have had done with more milk for night/morning brew.

There’s a gorgeous Loch behind the hotel which is handy if you fancy a walk or a run. The room was extremely clean and decorated to a high standard. The Toby Carvery was amazing as well so you don’t really need to leave the site once you’re there if you’re only staying overnight for work like I was. Will 100% be staying again next time I’m in Scotland - really pleased I came across this place.

They advised us to book ourselves a hotel in Edinburgh, even though this hotel, the location we wanted to be at, was in Glasgow! The lady that unfortunately conveyed the message to us in the night tried her best, apologised as she did not know either until that time, but it was too late for her and for us of course!

I love the style of the hotel too, very relaxing after a hard day's work. Great shower and bathroom. Room service was excellent too. It was nice and close to where I was working and the wifi connection was good enough in the room to allow me to continue into the evening. Only a 20 to 30 minute trip into the centre of Glasgow (£20 with one of the city cabs which is cheaper than Uber!)
