An all ground floor two bedroomed apartment for alternative sleeping arrangements should they be required. Supremely well appointed in a quiet residential area of " old town Berwick '' within The Elizabethan Walls 100 yds away. Flat screen smart TV and DVD player, free wifi and a large selection of old movies/reading books/maps, menus of good local eating establishments and a great town mapshowing where they are situated. A fully equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, coffee percolator, toaster, hand blender, dishwasher, washer/dryer, slow cooker, iron/board, umbrellas large and small, steak and sandwich grills. Fire blanket/extinguisher and heat /smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Gas central heating/double glazing throughout. All bed linen, towels, kitchen hand towel and tea towel. beach towels & tea towels, hand soap and washing up liquid/sponge/scourers. Carpeted throughout and fully tiled bathroom toilet. Your own private garden and rooftop sundeck with garden furniture and BBQ. For days out a picnic hamper , folding chairs, beach windbreaks, ground sheet and tartan blanket. Residential parking permits available for guests “parking is usually outside your bedroom or kitchen” window. There is also a free 24 hour car park right behind the property.
I live above the holiday apartment so I am usually available to assist with any questions on local attractions, restaurants etc should they be required. I love gardening and ran out of space a few years ago and so the upstairs sundeck was created. My other interests are game fishing , food and its preparation and travel. It’s also great to pick up tips and travelers tails from other guests and swap experiences.
A three minute easy stroll from the apartment takes you to the start of a wide variety of local shops, restaurants and art galleries in Bridge Street which is two hundred yards away and it is also connected to the quayside by narrow walkways and ginnels where you will be able to book a variety of boat trips on the famous salmon River Tweed and North Sea Dolphin watching. We are approximately 500 yds from the nearest golden sandy beach , there are four to choose from and an 18 hole golf course. The grassed area outside the apartment leads directly to The Elizabethan Walleds ( 100 yds away ) completed in 1565 they cost , one hundred and twenty eight thousand,six hundread and forty eight pounds equivalent to forty million pounds today and were the most expensive building project of the Elizabethan period, virtually intact and surrounding the old town covering a distance of just over one mile and including Berwick Barracks and Museum. Berwick’s main street is dominated by the Town Hall (1750 ) The Cell Block Museum within houses the original jail, complete with condemned cell, branding irons, shackles and leg irons, this was one jail that treated men and women as equils. Tours are twice each day It's a unique experience and well worth a visit. The railway station is approximately 700 yds from the apartment on the East Coast, a one hour train journey from Newcastle and 40 minutes from Edinburgh. Berwick is the " hubb " for exploring North Northumberland and The Scottish Borders by road and there are more castles, country houses, gardens and estates than you can possibly visit in one week. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Chillingham, Norham and Ford castles. Paxton , Manderston, The Hirsel, Mellerstain, Etal Estates, Heatherslaw’s working corn mill and miniature railway. Chain Bridge Honey farm and Alnwick Garden with the largest treehouse in the world are all within an easy 35 miles drive from your accommodation.
