Whilst not exactly picturesque, Dunbar is a very interesting coastal town having had a fort and a castle in the distant past. A good place to spend a few hours exploring. Dunbar is easy to get to by road or rail.
Dubar is not a tourist honeypot, which makes the charm of it. There is plenty to do however if you want to travel half an hour. Very close by train from Edinburgh. Visit to Saint Abbs not to be missed. We stayed only two days but could have done more.
We enjoyed the craft shops. We spent time at the harbour which has plenty of seating and a very nice fish takeaway place. Lots to see there. The Bear sculpture is an easy walk from the garden centre and well worth a look.
I enjoyed sitting at the harbour ,the historical information The Walled Garden The variety of craft and gift shops the Coffee Chocolate House and the Italian fish and ice-cream cafe which remained open later We ate at The Hillside Hotel and one evening at The Rocks Hotel which was booked for us by Thhe Hillside as their restaurant was not opened that evening. Yes easy to get around
the people in dunbar are very nice and helpful also the bus services are very good ,the belhaven beach was really nice but quite a long walk when you got off the bus , the high street was very good with quite a few shops to browse round and quite a few good cafes about and not a lot to do with kids if the weathers not good
I like the fact that we had Asda's and mcdonalds next door to the hotel, and driving out a further towards the town centre there you have the harbour and other facilities like the leisure centre and other attractions nearby chip shops all around my main bit loved it.

Dunbar
Everything. I like space to stretch out and chill, the lounge is bigger than some hotel rooms I've stayed in. I like to do my own cooking, kitchen is nicely laid out so I could channel my inner masterchef (I'm not that good) I have stayed in many local hotels, flats and apartments via various Internet sites, East Beach is the best one to date.

The common area has a couple of board games and there is even an outside area!
Staff were lovely, Hotel was clean. Meals were good. Great location. Nice cosy bar. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom clean and modern. This is an old hotel in the centre of Dunbar so do not expect everything shiny and new. Floorboards do creak but the warmth of the staff make this a pleasant stay.

We needed hotel rooms in the area, and this was the only hotel that had rooms available. Rooms were clean and typical of franchises. Restaurant staff were very pleasant. Food was okay, again typical franchise offerings.
