The property is beautiful, in an incredible location, cosy, with wonderful facilities, and super clean. The views really take your breath away. There's underfloor heating throughout and each room has its own control, which is fantastic. The layout of the bedrooms is brilliant too. We stayed with some friends - they had a 1-year old baby and we had a 1-year old puppy. Neither of us could hear each other on different ends of the property! Each room is en-suite too. Beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped.

I am a local boy, my family used to own Lochbay Restaurant and before that Arisaig House. Thus my brothers and I grew up in surrounded by the highest levels of hospitality. My brothers are professional builders & architects, the best on the Island. Together we built this house with our own hands to our own design. I am passionate about tourism and have also worked in adventure tourism in South America. Since i built the house I have been living in Edinburgh earning some money for a change! Hopefully I will begin work in tourism again this year, or at least get some more travelling done :)

Property info

This unique and thoughtfully designed property has been recently constructed and made available for luxurious self catering holidays in the perfect location on the Isle of Skye. The house is positioned to take full advantage of the world famous Waternish sunsets, fine dining at the Lochbay Restaurant and the quaffing of award winning ales at the Stein Inn, the oldest Inn on Skye; both 5 minutes walk down the hill. It should be noted that Lochbay Restaurant has just been awarded a Michelín star by chef Michael Smith of Great British Menu fame. Prepare to be blown away by the enormous open plan living space which flows seamlessly outdoors to an equally spacious deck overlooking the bay, its islands and across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides strung like jewels along the horizon some 30 miles West. If you get bored of the spectacular sunsets or the storms and squalls dancing towards you across the Atlantic, we provide a full sound and video system for your entertainment. The well equipped kitchen which lords over the living space has been designed with the social inclusion of the chef in mind and will suit the keenest culinary requirements.

Neighborhood info

The village of Stein is in the north west corner of Skye located on the B886. It is 8 miles from Dunvegan and 22 miles from Portree. Stein itself is a conservation village which was designed originally by Telford as a model fishing at the end of the 18th Century. Our house overlooks the village from up high. The village boasts the renowned Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant and also the oldest inn on Skye, the Stein Inn. It is home to a wealth of beautiful shorelines to walk along, as well as forestry walks to enable you to see the amazing wildlife including eagles, otters and corncrakes. Waternish has several popular visitor attractions such as the 5 star Skyeskyns, Scotland’s only traditional sheepskin tannery and showroom, Shilasdair Yarns, Braefasach Art Studio, Halistra Pottery and Dandelion Designs. Diver’s Eye offers excellent diving or sightseeing boat trips out to the islands to enable you to see the coastal scenery and marine wildlife. Waternish is full of historical places of interest including: Trumpan Church, scene of a vicious massacre between the MacLeod and MacDonald clans in 1578, the ancient fort of Dun Hallin which still presides over the Waternish Peninsula
