Our newly renovated cottage is set in the village of North Tolsta on the east coast of the Isle of Lewis. It is a 2 storey cottage with views across the Minch and you can see the mainland hills on a clear day.
Enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world
The village of North Tolsta is a peaceful place. There are three beautiful beaches at Garry, Traigh Mhor and Geordail. We are 14 miles from the main town of Stornoway and you will see more beautiful beaches as you drive along the main road. This will take you about 20 minutes. You can explore Lewis and Harris at your leisure to visit more beaches if you like or to take in any of the historical landmarks such as The Lews Castle which houses the local Museum nan Eilean and beautiful grounds that are open to the public. You can go slightly further afield to the Callanish Stones or Carloway Broch or travel on down to Harris or Uig for some spectacular scenery. There are good restaurants and cafes in Stornoway and also more rurally. It is good to scope out whatever area you are visiting so that you can plan your day out to include a bite to eat! We do provide bacon, eggs, bread, milk and juice to start you off. Tea and coffee are both provided. There is a small community shop with post office in North Tolsta and another on the way from Stornoway that sells petrol. There are two large supermarkets in Stornoway and a variety of other shops to choose from. There is a good local bus service to Stornoway which you can get from the main road just down from the house
