The place was lovely, and Anne and Chris were wonderful. There was a bit of a plumbing issue with the shower, but they immediately called a local plumber to get it fixed. The location is quite remote, with lots of wind and rain, but we were fully expecting that—as you should if you are staying on the Isle of Lewis. Great places to walk, and don’t miss Bosta Beach!

Everything! Helena made the Byre feel like home. She had the best stocked kitchen - all the right utensils, pots/pans, everything we needed; she had helpful hints about what to do while visiting; and she was completely responsive to all of my questions. Oh! And a bookshelf filled with local guidebooks. So so helpful!

The Uig Sands area is amazing but the weather on our early...

The Uig Sands area is amazing but the weather on our early October trip was dire. Much to explore but every activity requires a car or transport as there is almost nothing you can get to without transport. An area steeped in amazing history all around and the beaches are fabulous if its not raining - which it apparently does quite a lot! A trip up northward to the Callanish standing stones, Duncarloway Broch and the Gearrannan Black House village and further up the west coast is well worth the effort.

Uig is full of lovely walks and beaches, and there is plenty...

Uig is full of lovely walks and beaches, and there is plenty of wildlife, we got views of white tailed eagles, and seals. Seatrek located nearby was fantastic, offering trips around the lagoon and out to the natural arches.
