2 Large bedrooms are available in this quirky Grade 2 listed farmhouse. It was built in the 16th Century Elizabethan period and prominently features on the landscape. It can be seen at hight from the picturesque Startup Reservoir and nature reserve . It was later purchased by Lord Rothschild for his blacksmith. More recently, owned as the family home of a local farming family who sold it 3 years ago and still live and work on the farm in the 2 neighbouring properties. The farmhouse was updated in 2021 but still retains its charm and charisma. Dogs are welcome at Startop Farmhouse and is home to three. Izabelle and Alfie the Bichons and Dexter the Standard poodle. They are all single coat, curly coated dogs known to be "hypo-allergenic" and live and sleep downstairs with the host. You are invited to bring your dogs with you and they can use the garden but please keep your dog with you at all times. I can provide water bowls and beds on request. If you are planning a walking holiday and you would like your dog groomed on the day you leave then ask for availability and prices. I am a dog lover and groomer. If you want something different and enjoy that personal touch, character and a homely feel then staying at Startop Farmhouse should be for you. You will see beyond its imperfections that have occurred over time. I doubt any wall is straight, ceiling level and upstairs that the floors are flat but this is what gives its charm and character in abundance. Downstairs is now been converted to open-plan living where the host lives with his dogs. Accommodation is Dog Friendly, has a large garden but your dog sleeps in your room with you. The host has 3 dogs, Dexter is a black 3 year old Standard Poodle and 2 fluffy Bichon Frise' Izabelle 7 and Alfie 6.Both breeds are known to be hypoallergenic and do not moult or shed hair. The host is a Dog groomer and works from the adjoining old forge trading as Dazzling Dog Groomers Limited. Should you be here on a walking holiday or just prefer to go home with a clean, freshly groomed dog then you wish can often be accommodated.
The farmhouse was built in 1600's, is Grade 2 listed and can be seen on the landscape at height, usually from the resevoir. The owner is a dog groomer and works from the old forge where previously the blacksmith fired the horseshoes, the original bellows are still attached and the original stump in the floor where the shoes were hammered to fit. The old walls are made of hair and larves. However, the house has been recently double walled and insulated. We have wonky walls, floors and ceilings.
