Situated on the original thoroughfare to Cullen House, the Old Chemist presents a magnificent traditional stone façade, with the double glazed shop windows retaining the character - with hanging baskets each side of doorway. The 4 roomed single storey property is hard-floored throughout making it ideal for guests with dogs, and for guests who are not highly mobile. The doorway enters into the livingroom where there is smart TV, sofa, sofa bed, storage and small dining table, decorated with art from local artist Rob Greenwood. The newly sound-insulated bedroom consists of a double bed with fresh clean linen, a large wardrobe (containing linen and mattress topper for the sofa bed), and a Chester drawers (please note there are two small steps to the bedroom and kitchen areas). Flowing through from Livingroom through a beautiful original stone archway is the brand new beautifully decorated kitchen containing cutlery/crockery/glassware, a fridge freezer, electric cooker with extractor fan, pans and utensils and a Tassimo coffee machine. This leads to the shower room, small in nature, but complete with new shower enclosure, toilet and wash basin.
Hello - Im chris, originally from Mulben - a small hamlet about a 20 minute drive from Cullen. I purchased the property in 2012, and have been hosting the Old Chemist since 2017 I am proud that the Old Chemist is steeped in history and central to the history of our beautiful wee coastal village of Cullen. We enjoy the interaction with guests, and hope that guests can contact us at any time with any queries' or issues they may have. I have great pleasure in hearing that most guests absolutely love the stay and quite often comment about how unique and cosy it is.
Cullen is simply outstanding - truly beautiful! The viaduct, castle hill, nearby Findlater Castle ruins, the famous Cullen Beach, Cullen House and Bin Hill bring visitors from all around. The famous Icecream shop and widely renowned fish soup dish called Cullen Skink is celebrated far and wide - both exceptional dishes that must be sampled! The newly renovated Seafield Arms and Royal Oak provide excellent meals, with the Rockpool café providing a highly desired, and recommended booking ahead, lunch service. Lastly, a special mention the the Cullen Golf Club links course - magnificent course, with a welcoming clubhouse even to non-golfers! A very welcoming community.
