The Stables is a grade 2 listed stable conversion, originally built in 1872. It was part of the servant quarters for Rheda Mansion. The main house burnt down but the courtyard containing four unique buildings has been carefully restored and refurbished to a very high standard. The Stables is one of four buildings, all sited in a brick courtyard in the middle of what would have been the mansion’s extensive grounds.
We bought The Stables as a holiday house for ourselves and family as it offers plenty of space and charm for larger groups of people. We like the mountains and the sea and the house is perfectly suited for both. The beach is a mere 4 miles away, our nearest lake is also 4 miles, along with the nearest town Whitehaven. The Coast2Coast walking/cycling track is also nearby and the busier, more hectic, better known Lake District is an easy day trip.
