Too much to see in 4 days so many places to visit and every one so friendly. Dogs are allowed every were you go they even have menus in some restaurants for you pooch and the money charged goes to charity
I'm sure Windermere is beautiful. But be VERY careful where you stay. After a very long journey the hotel which was absolutely awful on arrival was too dirty for us to stay in therefore we left. Now the hotel can't even be bothered to co tact me to arrange a refund. Call them selves 4 star? I don't think so. You had yo be there to believe it..... I had a disabled person travelling with me so I emailed the hotel in advance. It was totally awful I had yo leave and return to a beautiful hotel further away.
Quiet but busy town in the countryside. The stay of 3 nights 4 days was not short but a longer stay could have made for a more leisurely visit and ability to do walks in the natural surroundings. The towns of Ambelside, Coniston and others are easily accessible by public transport and while similar have a unique charm of their own.
We have travelled to Windermere many times. My wife is in a wheelchair so it is now a different type of holiday, where we manage location based on this. Bowness is on a hill therefore we need to take this into consideration. The small boutique shops are lovely, as well as the cafes and beautiful scenery. Lots of people with dogs, which we love to see. The lake area is fantastic for people watching too. I would recommend this area as I think there is something to do for all.
Quaint and easy to walk town. The B&B was well located for pubs and tours. Parking is a nightmare here though! It’s a very busy town. If you don’t mind driving, find a place more outside the main towns of the Lake District. Even in mid-September there was a lot of traffic and people on the street of the towns. Excellent pub called The Brookside Inn a short walk from The Broadlands B&B.
Windermere offers a great deal of interesting things to do. The lake itself is very beautiful, and various boat trips are available there. There are many attractive walks nearby, notably along the lakeside and up the hill to Orrest Head, with its wonderful views. Public transport from Windermere is very good, with a train station and a variety of bus services to other parts of the Lake District. There is a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants in Windermere and nearby Bo'ness.
Windermere
The location was fantastic - you could easily explore the whole area around Windermere, including the surrounding towns. The information book provided by the hotel also meant I discovered an amazing spot for sightseeing that I wouldn't otherwise have visited. The bathroom was superb and the soap and bath accessories smelt lovely! The breakfast was made to order and the staff were very helpful when serving it.
Windermere
Absolutely loved our one night stay here. Short and sweet. The staff were so friendly and chilled out. We would defiantly go back. The room was very luxurious, couldn’t get enough of the spa bath & the breakfast room service. In the middle of Windermere and Bowness-On-Windermere, perfect location. Loved being welcomed by the hotel doggy too 🐶 . Very friendly atmosphere!!
Location and views onto the lake was great, bit far out so you can’t walk to Windermere or Ambleside for a drink, but the bar in the hotel was fine. Didn’t get to eat at the restaurant but smelt amazing walking past. We were lucky enough to have a balcony overlooking the hotels jetty, which is a great place to relax. The spa was also great, just remember to book in advance.
Windermere
The hosts were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The hotel itself was decorated beautifully and was very clean. The location was ideal for exploring Windermere and the wider Lakes area. The food was high quality and cooked to order and the selection was great. Having a parking space on site was an unexpected added bonus.
Windermere
The hosts are lovely - really accomodating and also give advice on walks and where to go. Breakfast was exceptional each day and highly recommend you have breakfast there. The hotel itself is in a great location, a short walk to bowness and Windermere town centre. The rooms are clean, plenty of room and comfortable.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Windermere Manor Hotel. Very friendly staff and lovely hotel. Nice walk down into Bowness so hotel location a bit out of the way but it wasn’t a problem as it doesn’t take long to walk round into Windermere or down to Bowness. Will definitely be back.
Windermere
Rooms were clean & comfortable and warm (which was great as it was snowing outside). it’s in the heart of Windermere but approx 20 minute walk down to Bowness. Breakfast was fantastic & served by 2 lovely ladies who couldn’t do enough for you. Would definitely stay here again
Windermere

Windermere
The location was great between Bowness and Windermere. Room cosy, breakfast fantastic. B&B with Spa/gym/swimming pool. All immaculately clean. Friendly knowledgeable staff could not do enough to guarantee a great break.
The Hotel was a 30 minute walk away from Lake Windermere, and close to windermere village so access to the pubs and cafes was easy. A decent breakfast was put on every morning in the hotel and the rooms were relatively comfortable.
Windermere
An amazing location overlooking Lake Windermere, a first class kitchen, attentive and knowledgeable staff (particularly the hotel manager Tom). A very impressive package in a crowded market in the southern lakes.
a beautiful location overlooking Lake Windermere, a lovely room, gorgeous hotel and great breakfast. A very quiet and peaceful stay, would recommend and will be going back.
The breakfast was a good size fresh and hot. A good selection on the menu. The hotel is situated at the top of a hill. It is in a very central location of Windermere.
