Hotel in Windermere
Situated in the heart of the Lake District and a 10-minute walk from Lake Windermere, this hotel is set in 3 acres of tree-lined gardens and has a charming, wooden-beamed restaurant. The first room we stayed in (I believe was 12) was very good (clean, spacious, back view). There was a dog next door but that did not bother us, the owners slamming the door may have. The second room we stayed in a few days later (I believe was Room 9) just above the conservatory dining room. We had a spectacular view of Lake Windermere (I imagine you can only get it in/before March (before the trees fully flourish). The room was amazing, spotless and we were provided with bath robes (we didn't mind the sound created when stepping on certain surfaces of the floor). Staff were very polite and pleasant especially the breakfast staff. Breakfast delicious especially coffee and the croissants. The first time our room was available so we were allowed to check in maybe an hour earlier; not the second time. Very satisfied overall; I would have permanently moved there :)

Perched on a hill overlooking Windermere town centre is the Windermere Hotel. Built in 1847 the hotel offers rooms with en suite bathrooms, and a restaurant. Breakfast was good and I was very happy to have my dog with me for the dining options. The front desk staff at check in was very nice and pleasant to talk with! Location was absolutely perfect! Room was very comfortable and clean. Room was spacious for what I needed and very accommodating for dog owners! I was overall very happy with the room.

This family-run Lake District accommodation has an indoor swimming pool, picturesque gardens and free parking. Free WiFi is available in the downstairs public areas and the bedrooms. We had a great afternoon tea when they offered an extra tea as we asked for an afternoon tea for one person. They gave us a bedroom upgrade because of our 15th wedding anniversary and left a lovely card in our room. The diner was really attractive and taste. We enjoyed the breakfast. The place was COVID safe, but I'd appreciate it more if they used the different rooms to keep people more distant.

On the edge of Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park, Merewood Country House Hotel was built in 1812 and retains many original features. Loved the room and bed was very comfortable. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Incredible breakfast although my husband didn't like his eggs benedict. He said the hollandaise was very bland. Would have been nice to also have some microgreens on top. But all in all loved our stay and would 100% recommend this hotel and we will be back 😀

If you have never visited The Lake District and in particular Windermere then you are missing out big time!! One of the most amazing places with the most amazing scenery and views you will get in the whole of the UK. Plenty to do and see plus lots of options for food, drink and relaxation. If you like your big walks look out for the Mountain Goat buses if you haven’t travelled by car.
Fantastic little cottage with all amenities, great location and view and the hot tub was fantastic to unwind after days of walks and hikes, hosts were great as well and even informed us we could check in a few hours earlier once cleaning had been completed and were not intrusive in the slightest. Cottage is as per the pictures and my partner and I had a fantastic time away being able to unwind and relax. Only small aspect that I was not a massive fan of was that the bathroom is quite open plan (like the rest of the cottage) - other than that really superb! Would definitely go back and definitely recommend!
Definitely worth a visit for 2 nights 3 nights max. Lovely scenery if you love the country side this is a very ideal location. You can rent out boats in the lakes and there is lots of restaurants shops etc around more than I was expecting anyway! Worth a visit
Good location. However room had a damp issue with visible mould . We asked for it to be removed and the said they would but they did not remove it. They seemed completely uninterested and weren't bothered that we were upset. I've since made a complaint and a follow complaint yet they have ignored every single email.
Swimming pool was lethal no non slip material on the top two steps and I slipped only saved by holding railings, bottom two steps had non slip material on ? Why not the top two ? Other steps also had no non slip steps and had to take extreme care getting out as your feet slipped easily
January is a very quiet time in Windermere which is why I chose to go self catering as half the restaurants are closed, but still plenty to choose from. We ate at the Lakes Raj Indian, the food and hospitality was fantastic. The weather had good days with some rain but that’s not unusual. Had a wonderful stay
The reception and hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Comfortable room with excellent bathroom. The swimming pool and sauna are a great addition and easy to reserve a space. The breakfast is fantastic with a range of pastries to start and various choices for breakfast (the Cumbrian full breakfast is brilliant) The coffee and fresh orange is fresh and tastes amazing. Amazing views overlooking Windermere area.
From start to finish the experience at Windermere Boutique Hotel was exceptional! The room was extremely clean which was very important to us. Very cosy and we felt at home. We didn’t get the name of the lovely blonde lady behind the reception unfortunately but she was so lovely and welcoming! We will definitely be back to use those beautiful spa features!

The proprietors are lovely people and very accommodating, the room and en-suite were spacious and very comfortable. The Breakfast was good and had a decent choice, and the hotel is situated just a stones throw from the centre of Windermere

The stay was a treat for my wife following our second child. This was a night away from the kids to relax and enjoy the area. The hotel was great and gave my wife the experience she was after, until she came to leave…
I liked the modern areas of the hotel, in particular the spa. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It's a handy location if you have a car, situated between Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.
This was the fourth time we have stayed at Cragwood and we love it. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, the room is spacious and had a view of Windermere. The cream tea is exceptional.
This hotel has great views over lake Windermere. The staff were polite and very helpful. The food was a bit expensive but very nice. The spa area is well worth a visit.
