One of the party's room was upgraded and proved to be invaluable for the elderly member of the party. She be able to sit comfortably in the privacy of the room. The original cosy room on the ground floor was tiny and the bed was a little uncomfortable. We had requested the ground floor room for this elderly person and it would have met most of her needs but she could not have stayed in the room to read. The sitting rooms were amazing with views and other materials like games and books. The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent.

Absolutely beautiful, peaceful place. So much to do but not too busy. Such an amazing place, I would happily live in that area. Already planning our next trip for next year and to stay longer. We ate in the bar and grill over looking the lake and the food was nice, a lot for your money, staff were lovely. We walked around and found it very easy to get around, plenty of little shops and things to look at. Some lovely little cafes to sit in and have a hot drink and treat.

Bowness and Windermere are both lovely Towns in there own right, having numerous, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. They're also great bases to explore the Lake district. You can take boat trips from Bowness out onto lake Windermere, to various locations such as, Ambleside.

Windermere is a good base to explore the lake & surrounding areas. The town is much quieter than Bowness - which is a 25 min walk. We found some good local restaurants but not one good pub or wine bar - I was expecting old traditional pubs with good local food - such a missed opportunity!

Windermere in the last week of September is still very busy, so if you want to eat out, I would recommend booking in advance.
There are lots of things to do in the area. We last visited the Jetty Museum in 1993 and would have visited in 2019 but it was closed for refurbishment. So we went this time and it was wonderful. Very nicely restored with extra interactive things for children (and adults!) to do, plus a lovely cafe which I don't think they had previously.
There are lots of different Lake cruises running from Bowness which is just a 10 - 15 minute walk south of Windermere. All are priced reasonably according to length of time and where on the Lake they go. They run until quite late in the day. At some point during most cruises, military jets do practice flights past the lake which is quite spectacular (and very noisy!)
Plenty of independent shops, bars and cafes in the town. Bowness is just a 10 - 15 minute walk away and also has plenty.
All in all, a great place to visit.

The Lake is magnificent, unspoilt and serene. The surrounding towns are busy and buzzing with happy tourists. But once you're near the lake a feeling of calm flows over you. There are so many lovely walks in the area. Don't miss The Lakes District!
This was my first time visiting the Lake District and I couldn’t have asked for anything better, it was way better than what I had expected!
The food that was served in the restaurant was out of this world, the room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed.
I would highly recommend the Windermere manor hotel to anyway that decides to visit the beautiful Lake District and I will deffo stay here again next time I’m down :)
The location was great, situated between Windermere and Bowness, about 20.mins walk into the centre of Windermere. The room was small but clean and very comfortable with a comfy bed.
The breakfast were fabulous, hot tasty and very filling and the staff were all professional but really friendly. Also we had no trouble parking and found a space within the hotels grounds
I would definately go back.
It is a beautiful area to visit and Meadfoot is in a perfect location to walk into Bowness on Windermere or into the village of Windermere.

Parking is provided and the house has spacious gardens if you feel like resting there.
Location is exceptional with super views of Lake Windermere. The older parts of the hotel are lovely - lots of warm wood in Arts and Crafts style. Our newer room (one of the “lodges” was comfortable and very spacious with a good en-suite bathroom. The little spa facility was nice. Breakfasts were ample and delicious.
