When I bought the ancient Suffolk longhouse which has become Sheep Cottages in 2007 it was in a very sad state. Over an 18 month period as a labour of love it was rescued, restored and turned into the handsome and much loved pair of cottages we see today. It almost killed and bankrupted me but the end result was so worthwhile....many many guests have enjoyed staying since I opened my doors to paying guests in mid 2009. Peasenhall is a super village in perfect Suffolk countryside close to the Heritage coast. White Sheep Cottage is hugely historic - lots of beams, lime plaster and wide boards but plenty of 21st century luxuries too and set amidst extensive gardens. The cottage mixes ancient & modern to create a vibe which feels cool & modern……an abundance of exposed raw oak timbers & wide floorboards......lovely light through largely 17th century windows; lime plastered walls finished in a palette of Farrow and Ball whites complement the taupes, greys and chocolate of the timbers & floors. Cool bathrooms have fittings from whilst the kitchen offers every convenience - double oven, halogen hob, microwave, panini maker, juicer, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Beds and pillows are high quality, bed linen & towels are pure Egyptian cotton, crockery, cutlery, glasses & cookware are plentiful and pleasing. There is wifi broadband, heating for cooler days and fans for hot summer nights. Books, maps and games are all provided, as are basic provisions & a bottle of wine to welcome you. Outside there is a pretty private garden and terrace with dining furniture & a bbq, wild flower meadow with pond, bike shed & parking areas bordered by hedges & a tributary of the River Yox. Upstairs are three bedrooms, 2 king size with generous ensuite shower rooms, & a cosy twin which uses the family bathroom of loo, basin and double ended tub. Downstairs is a huge kitchen with inglenook fireplace, central island, squishy white leather sofa and fabulous 16th century panelling. Opposite is the dining room, low ceilinged and intimate, and beyond is the triple aspect sitting room. French windows open to the terrace and South and West facing garden, which is fenced to make it safe for small children.

They have recently been renovated as a labour of love with the twin aims of rescuing and preserving their abundant period character whilst providing twenty-first century levels of luxury, comfort and convenience.
