An ambient 19th century, semi-basement studio mini home for the discerning guest, just 20 meters from the picturesque seashore of the old tannery district. The 15-square-meter room has a double bed on a loft with a clearance of 1.87 m., under which there is a Cretan sofa that converts into a single bed. The room boasts full kitchen facilities, smart TV with free Netflix access and all the amenities to make your stay comfortable, with a spacious, adjoining toilet with shower and bath. It extends to a cozy hallway workspace, beyond which there is a fully-equiped gym and storage space for luggage. The space exits into a private furnished patio with a table and chairs on a loft for meals with a view to the sea. The whole space is completely partitioned from the rest of the host's home and has its own exit to the neighborhood, which secures your complete privacy. Situated in historical Halepa, after a refreshing plunge in the sea, at your doorstep lie fine taverns, cafes and historical landmarks. Mikrokosmos is literally the best non-touristy "microcosm" that real Crete has to offer.
Born and raised in Chania, after an Odyssey abroad I returned to my birthplace, which I have always considered to be one of the most beautiful "playgrounds" for anyone who possesses the virility and the imagination to enjoy it to its full potential. With interests varying from extreme sports to music and writing (as a published writer), I am hard pressed for choices of what activity to tackle first on just about every morning I wake in the birthplace of European civilization. My only grievance in life is that there are not enough hours in a day to do the things I love in this microcosm of the best that life has to offer. You will know exactly what I mean when we stroll to the seashore with cups of coffee in hand just a few steps from my home to the seashore.
Our neighborhood boasts not only the privilege of being in one of the most picturesque seaside historical locations of the city, the tannery district, but also of not having lost the pulse of its initial function, as it hosts the sole surviving traditional tannery, operating under the strictest sanitary conditions in respect of the touristic development of the region. Ιn fact, it is of such significance that schools and agencies organize field trips to visit it. There are many abandoned tannery buildings to explore and photograph before they are renovated into hotels. Beyond this, the city's most famous sea tavern, "Thalassino Ageri", is located a mere 100 meters from the home, where you can dine literally beside the naturally formed sea pool with the unique view of the city outlined by a horizon that provides one of the most breath-taking sunset views. Apart from the cove right in front of your house, within a short walking distance, you can swim at the famous "Kouloura" swim spot - a picturesque, natural pool encircled by rocks frequented by the locals. You are also within a short walking distance from fine cafes, taverns, museums and supermarkets.
