Hindi speaking people should avoid Ooty. Tamilians are highly uncooperative. They loot outsiders. Very arrogant towards non Tamilian
Auto people loot u by charging 120 Rs for any small distance of 1/2 kilometer.

If you drive to Ooty, you better be an exceptional driver as most of the roads are either uphill OR downhill.
The important spots that I visited with my family are
1) Botanical Garden
2) Rose Garden
3) Doddabetta Peak
4) Train Station/Journey (to Coonoor)
5) Tea Garden (best for photos)
6) Tea/Chocolate factory (worth the visit at least once)
7) Government Museum (History Museum in the first Stone house)
8) Emerald lake (although very less water but worth the visit for the landscape and the scenery).
9) Pine forest (visit this place only if you love the nature and to walk in between the pine trees for some photos, otherwise it is long drive)
Getting around Ooty is easy if you have the GPS or at least know the routes very well otherwise you will never know where you will end up, especially the places where you can't take U-turn.

Ooty is crowded these days.
Ooty is crowded these days. I would prefer to stay in connor next time. The traffic was horrible and it was not peaceful to just go sightseeing.
But the weather was nice and cozy to stay inside the homestay.

If you wanna enjoy the nature with relaxing experience, then avoid going to Ooty during weekends / extended weekends as mostly working professionals from Bangalore & Mysore visit which makes the traffic a terrific thing in the city.

The best thing to experience is Ooty toy train and rose garden.
Other things are overhyped. The pyara waterfall, the pine forest , shooting point etc are greatly overhyped. You can completly sip these and plan for coonoor or other nearby places like Wayanad.

A great destination for 2-3 days holidaying.
A great destination for 2-3 days holidaying. We visited the sites likes Pykara falls and lake, Shooting Point, Botanical garden, Rose garden, Chocolate Factory, Tea/ Cofee Factory, Doddabetta Peak etc to name a few. However following wroth to be noted:
1) Pykara Falls does not have any falls actually
2) Botanical Garden is not worth.
3) Toy train can be excluded from the trip.
4) Chocolate factory and tea factory on Dodabetta road is worth seen and should not be missed.
I would 100% recommend Beverly Villa to anyone visiting Ooty and in search of a stay. The staff were very polite and quick in responding to any needs we had. The view is amazing from the room. There are a lot of restaurants and cafès nearby which are walkable from the hotel. The room was really clean and even had a microwave which is really helpful in hill stations. They have travel arrangements for interested people. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and I would love to come back here again when I'm visiting Ooty next!
This homestay is by far the best experience I had in Ooty and I've been there many times. The property gives an old colonial furnishing vibe. The staff is generous and accommodating to the requests. The food they give is better than any hotel, both in terms of quality and quantity. The property is uphill from the centre, you can embrace silence with warm sun and bird chirps. In addition, you can enjoy beautiful sunsets while having piping tea/coffee and snacks of your choice. I would love to come here again.
Haribabu is really a good person, very helpful in nature. He helps a lot beyond his capability. Room is suitable to spend leisure time only for one night. Because room is top of the hill in THELAS which is 20 km away from coonoor. Cottage is 2 km away from Thelas bus stop. If you want to go there you have to pay 200 rs every time for that. But Haribabu pays all the price every time if you want to go Thelas bus stop. Haribabu provides all the fecility which are mentioned in booking.com.
The Room was nice, quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable! Also the bathroom clean — and they provided us with towel, toilet paper and soap. And we got drinking water to refill our bottles, and in the room a water heater and glasses (Ooty in winter can be a bit cold and a hot the in the evening is nice!). Finally the Staff was friendly and always helpful — also booked a one day tour through the hotel!
Nothing except the news that they had given my rooms to someone else as he had paid more than what I paid...
I think that's the best thing about Red Rock Cottage and OYO as either there hotels won't exist or if they exist then they give your rooms to someone who pays more...
So just think twice before booking OYO property, if any time, I pay more then you could be without any place to stay.
The residency was pleasant and well-equipped. The hotel manager was a pleasing personality and nice man with a smile always ready with him. Mr. Mujeeb is a very humble guy and down to earth person and very cordial in nature. If anyone wants to go to Ooty please book this hotel as you will enjoy a lot. Door step service is excellent.
This was not the house we stayed at, it was changed, as Booking.com allowed us to rebook a booked apartment.
But the other apartment called the JOY cottage was good. Overall good location, good size for what we needed. Breakfast was good, except for the coffee.house was decent.
The hotel has been amazing. It was a wonderful experience staying at Amuthu Residency. We had the opportunity to stay for a wedding.
I would like to recommend staff from the guest relations team. She was very helpful throughout the stay. Even the housekeeping team was good.
There is nothing to like it. Cost is too much high like 5 star hotel but facalities 2 star. There is no proper food menu and restaurant is in open area if rain is there than no restrorent in hotel. Intercom is not working. There is no such good option in breakfast.
1. Breakfast was good, though bit spicy for kid.
2. Hotel charged additional Rs.900 to a room with view, though the there was no other booking apart from mine. Got 402. But i must say, the view was excellent.
Totally impressed with the ambiance and the customer service. The size of the rooms are quite ok. We had a comfortable stay. Do not expect a 5 star hotel stay. This is a beautiful homestay and that's it.
Murli ji is an awesome being. He is fun to be with. The overall stay experience was amazing.
Loved the location. Loved the sunrise from the bugiyal nearby. Food was sooooper.
