Born and brought up (and hopelessly in love with) Calcutta, Iftekhar Ahsan hails from Rajasthani stock. A regular contributor to The Telegraph and other publications he has managed to build a reputation for himself as an explorer of the city and one of the best people to walk around town with. And when he’s not wandering the streets of the city then you can find him tracing his love to the Silk Road and the various countries that it passed through. If you ever need to plan a trip to any Silk Road country, including Iran, Uzbekistan, China, India, Turkey and the like just drop a hint and watch him animate in excitement.

We have been taking people on walks in Calcutta for over a decade now and it's been disappointing to see some beautifully designed buildings meeting the hammer every other day. So we decided to take matters in our own hands and restore one of the beauties. Happy to present to you the Calcutta Bungalow. Tastefully and lovingly decorated by celebrated local designer Swarup Dutta. Representative of the old world charm and a leisurely pace of life. A quick half an hour drive from the airport. Run and managed on the best sustainable and responsible tourism practices. From the house of Calcutta Walks who know and love the city like no other. A hearty breakfast with fresh healthy ingredients and sizeable portions to kick-start your day.
