Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds. It was good to have tea/coffee making facility in the room.

The view, the cottage! Probably the best place I booked during my visit to Iceland!
Featuring a stargazing observatory on site, this luxury hotel is in an idyllic remote location next to the Rangá salmon river in Hella.

We loved everything about Hotel Rangá. The staff were all lovely and super helpful. The room was really comfortable with a lovely jacuzzi bath in the en-suite. We were lucky to have a north facing room so got a really good view of the Northern Lights. There is an aurora wake up service but we were already up mesmerised by the show outside. The observatory was open on the night we stayed too which was really interesting. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening but breakfast the next day was one of the best we’ve had in Iceland. So much choice with hot and cold options. We will definitely return in the future.
Leirubakki Hotel is a small and cozy hotel that offers great personalised service and a top location in the South of Icealand, near Hekla, the volcano.

The hotel is brand new and very well located, just 10 minutes from Road 1. Bernat is a lovely, attentive host, with also good advice on things to do in the area.
The rooms are new and very comfortable. The sauna, jacuzzi and cold bath after a long day at the Golden Circle were a real treat, especially with the gorgeous view that comes with. Breakfast was also very good.
Make the most of it, prices are low at the moment! We nearly felt guilty to be the only guests during the night we stayed, we hope that a hidden gem like this will soon be fully booked everyday, that's the least we wish for all the efforts they made !

Breakfast is buffet style - both hot and cold / chilled options are available. All freshly prepared and well presented.
Really good quality and included in our booking price. Bread was freshly baked and a little bit too nice for my waistline.
Zero complaints - compliments only.
Evening meals are from a fairly limited menu but the quality is fantastic (if expensive).
Rooms are best described as quirky style with a concrete, wood and tubular steel modern design. Very comfortable, clean and well presented.
Room calls for any visible aurora (regular) are optional. Dark skies make the spectacle more vivid.
Set in Hella, Loa's Nest offers a garden. Boasting a shared lounge, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Guests can enjoy mountain views. At the guest house, rooms include a desk.

Hella a bit sparse.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Our hotel was well lit so we could find it but they would not turn off the lights to view the Northern Lights better.

Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. The town itself has a small supermarket, nice bakery and okay places to eat. Looks pretty with the mountains to the side.

We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.

Location of home is quiet, on a horse farm, about 30 minutes from the main town of Selfoss. It was a good location to explore the south. We would stay there again!

Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1.
Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1. Unacceptable reason of overbooking in real time booking system especially we have fully paid.
2. The selection of customers for relocation is not transparent, not logical and also not acceptable, especially we have fully paid in serval months (confirmed and paid on 4 Feb 2023 for the booking on 1-3 Aug)
3. We booked 3 rooms (7 persons) for 2 nights (1-3 Aug). Maybe pre-empting us can release more rooms for others, and maximize the revenue as we might paid less (booked in 6 months in advance)
4. Very short notice ie we received the relocation message at 16:18 on 1 Aug that we were on the way to Legendary Hotel Hella. I strongly believe the overbooking happened at least a month ago but I had only 2 hours notification time
5. 2 receptionists are inexperienced to handle such disaster issue. The manager, the decision maker, was hidden and not face to or talk to the customer directly. 2 Receptionists were not able to explain the situation nor to comport their customers.
6. We were relocated to Bru Country Estate, that required us to drive about 1 hour to there.
7. Hotel Hella booked 3 rooms for us (7 persons) in Bru Country Estate for us but there are only double rooms (no triple room) in Bru Country Estate. It created another problem during the careless relocation booking.
8. We booked a local tour to Highland on 2 Aug. The itinerary was changed and shorted due to longer travel time starting from Selfoss instead of Hella
The modern facilities were once a farm, but the owners have done a marvelous job turning it into a fantastic hotel in the country. It is a bit out of they way but that means the nights are fantastic. I was able to admire the stars and the aurora. It was cold outside but fantastically cozy inside. The restaurant also was above what I expected. (Iceland has an amazing food scene!). The staff is friendly and very helpful. After a day of driving and hiking it was a wonderful place to stay the night.
Beautiful location and spectacular path to the property. It was beautifully furnished and super warm. Although we did not get to see the the northern lights the rain falling on the top of the igloo made us feel really cozy and comfortable. Waking up with the sunrise was super lovely. Highly recommended stay and just an hour away from the capital region of Iceland and a short trip to Hella were you can find something to eat
The hotel is relatively closed to the Highlands of Iceland, which would be a good option for those who would like to go to Haifoss and Landmannalaugar. We enjoy the interior design and the view of the hotel. The room is spacious and comfortable. The breakfast tastes good but may be lacking variety as it is a four-star hotel. In general it is a lovely hotel.
Really unique location, surrounded by trees on the edge of a majestic river. Well maintained paths made for a magical early morning walk during our winter stay.
Extremely clean and well-designed modern cabin. Bed was super comfy. The compact kitchen has everything you need for meal prep. Highly recommend a tour of the Hella Caves, located nearby.
The hotel and rooms are beautiful and really cosy. Great food, great drinks and lovely staff. We got to see the Northern lights as they woke us up in the early hours to see them.
We had hired a car and got to see loads of great sights within a couple of hours drive. We would definitely come back and stay here again if we come back to Iceland!
This hotel has a good location as it sits between Golden Circle and Vik. Due to our change of plan, we were able to go back to visit Gullfoss and the went to Vik. Its location gave us more flexibility. Its restaurant offered good dinner, and we liked the free breakfast which had nice variety of eggs, bacon, hams, etc.
Everything at Hotel Laekur was phenomenal! We stayed in the most adorable cottage that fit the needs of our family of 5 comfortably. Stu (one of the owners) was so helpful and friendly and made us feel right at home. The food in the restaurant was fantastic! I would go back there every year if I could!!
It's located right next to the Caves of Hella. The people who worked in the caves do not own this house, but they helped us more than once when we got stuck in the snow while in the driveway. We adore them. But there are lots of other, better places nearby. Skip this one.
Excellent new hotel, great location, perfect as base for excursions in the south of Iceland. Good breakfast with all essentials, friendly and helpful staff, very good restaurant, good value for money for Icelandic standards. Small relax/spa area with sauna.
I have stayed at dozen of hotels in Iceland. This was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. The cottage was super clean and had everything needed for our stay. Hopefully I will have a chance to visit it again :)
Host is so kind and helpful
We can contact her everytime if we need her support
It is perfect house
This house is like 5 star hotel
It is good experience for me
I will visit again if i come to visit in iceland again
The facilities are great, they have a good restaurant/bar and an amazing outdoor hot tub and sauna! It is very well located for those traveling the ring road. The breakfast was also surprisingly good for Iceland.
Great place to stop over when travelling along the southern parts of Iceland. It’s conveniently located near a petrol station and some small shops and local restaurants/food trucks. The room was very spacious.
Great hotel. The people are really nice, the rooms are great, the view from the hot tub is spectacular and the restaurant was really good. Would recommend this hotel if you are ever near Hella!
They upgraded our reservation to the stracta hotel due to a booking error at the cabins. This hotel was 12/10. Their breakfast was beyond generous and the staff were very help and friendly.
