My house Nýlenda was built in 1898. The inn emphasizes respect for history, nature and mother earth. The house has a lot of soul and looks more like a cozy home than a modern guest house and is furnished with a fun mix of old and new things. Of course, the house has all the modern comforts as in other guest houses and all bedding and towels are new. The guesthouse has a bit of a museum feeling as most of the furniture and decorative items are things I have purchased from old residents in town. Many of the pictures on the walls are of my ancestors, so the house has a historical connection.
Throughout my life I’ve worked as a teacher, ranger and a mountain guide, so I’ve worked with people of all ages. I have put an emphasis on sharing my knowledge about mother earth. This is what I feel is the best way to educate everyone on how to protect the nature so we can protect our planet as best we can.
The old scandinavian wood houses all around, restaurants, small shops, museums and beautiful nature. The big white house against the street is the community center with cinema, cofeehouse and some events. The famous Rainbow street is a few steps from Nýlenda and the Blue church in the end of the street.
