Stylish and comfortable stay in historic Scanno. We loved the old family furniture and setting. But it’s also super comfy, with a cosy heated bathroom and quilts on the bed; tea and coffee making facilities; fast WiFi; easy parking; next to all amenities. Host Matilde is super friendly and offers a delicious breakfast with multiple options including eggs, pancakes, local cheese and ham, homemade cake. It was easily the best breakfast of our trip! Highly recommend this memorable spot.

Scanno is a fairly typical hill-top Abruzzo town.
Scanno is a fairly typical hill-top Abruzzo town. It's not quite as charming as some of the other small towns within the boundaries of the Nation Park, but it's still an attractive place - particularly the Old Town (Centro Storico).
There are several restaurants/trattorie in or near the town serving traditional Abruzzese dishes at reasonable prices. The nearby lake (3km) is a tranquil beauty spot and well worth a visit.
Scanno is a good base for anyone interested in walking/trekking - there are some fine paths in around the town and above the lake. My only criticism would be that, too often, the paths are poorly signposted.
All things considered, a great place to spend a few days relaxing in.
No frigobar in the room, no microwave in the whole hotel to warm up baby food, water poring down in the toilet, which could not be fixed.
Poor breakfast, with little fresh food or fruit.
No service whatsoever. The region has a lot to offer, with a little effort clients could be provided with optional programs. Great pool but no chance of having a proper apero with finger food.
With little effort the hotel could be much better, if only the management had some interest in providing some basic services
Hotel Nilde is a basic but comfortable hotel, a short walk from the center of Scanno. The rooms are small but efficient and incredibly clean. The small staff (husband and wife?) is accommodating. The only issue was they put us in a room with non-working A/C, though when we pointed it out they did offer to change our room. In any event the weather was cool that night. The small restaurant serves homey, tasty meals at a good price.
My family and I had a great stay here while we visited Scanno. About a 10 minute walk into the old town and a 1 minute walk to a children’s playground. Parking was free along the road too.
The host was so friendly and professional. Despite the language barrier was eager to make sure we had a great experience. Our breakfast table was waiting for us in the morning - and the service and food was excellent!
The breakfast was simply Fantastic (for the medium Italian taste): no eggs, ham, cheese or other continental stuff, but simply delicious homemade chocolate and nut cakes, "crostate", muffins, cornetto and a real cappuccino. Of course!
Modern furnishings and good cleanliness in the room. Easy parking in the street in front of the hotel.
Amazing location, views over the medieval town of Scanno and its idyllic surroundings. Alessandra is the perfect host, a native of Scanno so very friendly and full of local knowledge. Make sure to check out the albums on local folklore that you'll find on the shelves, you can find a familiar face in there!
The best place we stayed in Italy. Maria Luisa was a charming host, breakfast large and varied, room generous size, chalet beautifully designed into the rock reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wight's Fallingwater! Scanno is a beautiful hill-top village with ancient traditions and costume still in view.
Accommodation Is in the most stunning location.
Local town is beautiful.
Hotel staff very friendly.
Room very clean and spacious.
Buffet breakfast was selection of meats, cheese and cakes. Absolutely delicious
Wish we could have stayed longer.
Wonderful family. One of the best meals I’ve had in Italy! Its clean, good bed and shower. The pictures in the common room taught me a lot of the area and I learned about Scanno & Abruzzo customs. I will come back!
The breakfasts were very nice. Fresh pastries, yogurt, juice and cold cereal. Great view of Scanno from our balcony.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Super cute little place in the heart of scanno. Comfy beds, TV was connected to wifi for netflix, hosts were really lovely and happy to help, breakfast was great (lots of selection).
Location is fantastic, close to the interesting and fun central piazza. Love, love, love Scanno. Staff was welcoming. Room was bright and had small balcony.
The location couldn’t be better for a stay in Scanno. The host was fast at responding on any question and both check-in and check-out was very flexible.
