Taka, Oraphin and Yui are lovely family and hosts. They always make sure that our stay was comfortable and that we got full experience of Zao. We did not do much research about the town except for ski slopes (our main purpose was to snowboard there). However, Oraphin introduced us to many cool restaurants and, of course, free public onsens! The shared facilities were not an issue for us because all the guests were so considerate and the host always kept the bathrooms clean. Overall, we felt like home and very comfy staying in their house. Would definitely stay there if we visit Zao again and highly recommend everyone who's looking for a budget place that is super close to the slopes!

Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. They made sure we were comfortable with an extra futon, recommended vegetarian places, and showed us the onsen and where to rent equipment. It has a communal vibe, so extroverted people would love it.

The room was very japanese styled and the location is very well centered in Zao Onsen. The hosts were extraordinary. They were kind, very welcoming and cared for all of our needs. They took the time to explain the surroundings (restaurants, onsens, ropeline, etc.), they gave us tickets for the local onsens, offered coffee in the morning and even held our luggage after the checkout for a time. All in all, it was great to meet this kind-hearted family. I would highly recommend staying here.

Very cozy guesthouse! The owners are super nice and help you with everything you need! Also there are free onsens very close by, a convenience store and many tasty restaurants. You can also use the kitchen in the guesthouse, so its super convenient!

The owners are very kind and helpful. They kept out luggage the whole day after checkout so we could enjoy a final day of snowboarding. They even allowed us to change from our snowboarding clothes and helped us ship our equipment to Tokyo. Highly recommend.

I really liked how welcoming and cozy my stay was! the owners were very helpful in recommending things to do! as I don’t ski, I went snow shoeing and it was super fun. I was also able to use the local onsen for free as the owners of the property gave me a locals card. overall I had a great time!
