I liked that the Chef insisted on making an authentic and great version of the classic Nigerian breakfast dish that was awful.
I didn't feel the usual cozy luxury I normally got in the hotel.
I would rate the hotel maximum 2.5 stars and that's being generous.

The city is beautiful to stay in if you are restricted to Victoria Island. Going to the mainland would require security.
Regarding food, it had some great Indian restaurants like Spice Route and Mantra (in Cumberland Hotel). I would recommend Mantra Restaurant to everyone if you like good Indian food.
It is beneficial if you have already planned a guy to take you around the city for your visit.

So for international travellers, best to go to, Lekki, V.I, Ikoyi, Stay in apartments resorts, or international hotel. i.e Fay Pads. Then look for a guide/driver which the resort can provide for you. Plan all your trips in advance and hold hard cash, not too much, don't rely on POS, due to network shortages. Once you're prepared there is way too much to do and see only in Lagos, wake up early, hit the roads and eat in restaurants, don't be tempted to eat on the roadside or drink pure water, as your stomach might be sensitive to how it's prepared. Don't wonder far away on your own, always let others know where you're going, use fly over bridges when crossing even if there are others not using it. Don't walk or travel at night if at all possible. When going to bed, do a final check of all doors and windows. Lagos is very sweet!

A city bursting at the seams.
A city bursting at the seams. Still struggling from years of neglect and underinvestment. Poor infrastructure, poorly maintained and no evidence that it is equipping itself to deal with the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. That said, people are really friendly and cope remarkably well with the numerous daily challenges the are forced to contend with.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Lagos
The manager on the day I arrived was very unfriendly. I arrived earlier than expected because it was a night flight to Lagos and the manager insisted I paid an extra 50% of my original booking fee to be able to have an early checking which would have made a total of N 90,000.
I told her it was a bit too much as it was 4 hours until check out time and she made me sit at the reception and wait until it was 2pm. For my first visit to this hotel it wasn't the best way to have treated a guest after a long flight.
I was over the moon with room and bathroom. Nice smell in the corridors and over all fancy hotel areas.
You can go around taking photos everywhere. Pool is looking great in the night with all the lights and bars.
Their cocktails are very good and they serve many cuisines, such as italian, asian, sushi and african.
All over all - great experience for me !
this is one of my best hotel I have stayed so far in Lagos, the hotel environment is so clean and the location is just perfect..
the porter guys are so welcoming including the 2 guys and the dark lady at the reception They are awesome. the pool and roof top is topnotch thou i didnt get to chill out there because of my short stay...i will visit again..
