ABOUT THE PROPERTY: No children or infants allowed due to environmental dangers at this property. Bringing pets, extra people, or kids will result in eviction without refund. The fully self-contained apartment in our home is ideal for the beautiful walks nearby. It offers privacy with its own entrance, carport, large private patio with great views of Lake Whakamarino, a shared deck, and an orchard. The office is closed, however host is next-door, so do phone if you need anything sorted. Te Urewera Park is 1 km away (all uphill), and we are approximately 1 hour of winding road away from the small town of Wairoa. Napier and Gisborne are about 2 hours drive. The full kitchen is stocked with very basic complimentary self-catering breakfast food items (PLEASE SEE PHOTO). Bring your own supplies like milk . You might also find some fruit in the orchard to add to your breakfast. The nearest shops and restaurants are in Wairoa so do stock up before. ⚠️ PROPERTY LIMITATIONS: Hot water system is traditional and will require two hours recovery between full baths / not wheelchair accessible / low-pressure shower / rainforest location so expect insects like mosquitoes, roaches, and ants
ABOUT THE HOST'S BOOKING TERMS: * No children/infants allowed due to environmental dangers. Entry will be refused. * Office is CLOSED and you must self check-in/out. Please phone for support. * Great Walk parking at the Visitor Centre and Onepoto, no exceptions. * Wifi instructions are in the guest information book (fee listed under WIFI). * Very basic breakfast foods in the suite; no substitutions. * Cold wash/dry/line dry are free; dryer fee of 5 bucks.
WALKS AND PARK INFO: Due to a storm on Dec 2024, some walks are in disrepair and/or closed. Call the park visitor center to check that your intended walks are open before booking. The visitor center is now at Home Bay. Short walks are a great alternative to the 3 day 'Great Walk'; tramp less, see and do more. If it's the views, beaches, trees, falls and other Waikaremoana experiences you're after, and can live without ticking the box next to 'Great Walk', then why not spend 3 nights at the Tuai Suite in comfort instead of 1 and venture forth on Waikaremoana's amazing short walks. You can choose from 30 minute to full day walks. Water taxi bookings at "Te Urewera Visitor Centre (Kura Whenua)". Road closures listed on the NZTA website under "Check state highways". Road SH38 is OK for small cars but 60km of windy narrow gravel via Murupara. Mobile coverage is Vodafone and 2degrees only.
