The “peninsula” or old town is the only part of town where I actually spent my time. Pedestrian streets, seafront promenades, marina, beaches: all good for excellent walks. All the good museums are also nearby (Art, Folk, archeology)

Biggest commercial port in Romania, nice city with a long history going back to Roman times. Ovid, the Roman poet is buried here when it was called Tomis. The historic center is very nice with lots of old buildings and restaurants and the seashore is a relaxing place to stroll through with many restaurants and activities for all ages. There is a big aqua center, a cable car over the promenade and Ovid's island with a restaurant, reachable with a ferry. The modern art museum and history museum are worth a visit. The hop-on hopp off bus (2€/day) gives the visitor and insight among others, into the commercial port which is rather impressive. Recommended.

It’s a nice town/city but needs a little TLC. Signage is out of control… too much mix of luxury with non-luxury within steps… zones need to be created… it seems that it’s developing but it will take a while to compete with other top European beach destinations

A very well maintained seaside town, even in the suburbs. It is obvious that the citizens are satisfied with the municipal government and the parks are full of old people and parents with small children. In summary- LIVING CITY. But... A port city with a long history; visit the archaeological museum for interesting exhibits and maps. The central old town varies greatly in condition; some of the older buildings are being well maintained, others are gently crumbling. The architecture is an interesting mix of Art Nouveau and Transylvanian, with echoes of the Ottoman presence there. Many lively cafes and restaurants on Piata Ovidiu. Good fish restaurants down by the leisure port. We liked Camarote for service and value.

Constanţa looks like a city which will be amazing after 2025. Summer of 2023 is not the right time to visit, as the whole city is torn up with buildings and roads being updated at scale. Great restaurants, and atmosphere. Locals are very friendly and helpful towards tourists. FInding people who speak English is fairly easy in the tourist area, but venture outside of it, and you better be armed with google translate. Prices are all over the place, you can pay between 5 and 50 for the same thing, so it's really hard to keep track of money. Can pay with card almost everywhere.
