Clarens looks and feels like a small town but is far from it restaurants shopping and nature tours, I found it an ideal stopover if you are traveling inland to the coast,it borders on golden gate reserve ,a mountain reserve hiking trails and beautiful scenery

Way too many car guards - almost more than visiters.
Way too many car guards - almost more than visiters.
However, clean, freindly people everywhere and apart from eating in the square ans surrounds, there is art galaries, lovely walks and a trip to the Golden Gate reserve where we saw Zebra's buck, bird live and jackals. Lovely place and loads of good accomodation.
We went for a rest and we got one.

Clarens is clearly become commercialised to the point that lots of the shops sell the same things. There are so many eating establishments..yet only a few are really good...some being very overpriced in my opinion. And far too many car guards in one place. There were however some really beautiful unique shops. The golf establishments and gated estates/spas etc on the edge of Clarens is an unfortunate result of the commercialisation.

Our accommodation at Andes was excellent, we will definitely return for a longer stay. We had a delicious dinner at Clementines, and thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed wander through the village the next morning.

Great location for walking with your fur baby.
Great location for walking with your fur baby. Several stores sell Clarence Conservancy permits and maps and the conservancy is well-maintained and marked so it's safe and easy to walk and hike. There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops so it's possible to skip the self-catering option.
From the hospitality from Karel, Bianca and staff, to the 5 star self catering apartment with all the little extra touches, this is my go to place from now on when visiting Clarens. Location was perfect. Within walking distance to the center which was ideal as you are not disturbed by the noise from the restaurants etc in the evenings. The views of the mountain from each room are spectacular which is a bonus. The breakfast made by Bianca was 5 star.
Self catering so the kitchen appliances, utensils, cutlery and crockery was perfect and I felt like I was in my own kitchen.
The location was clean, nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the main town. Loved the big (compared to the tiny TVs you get at other lodges/hotels) clear Samsung TV.
I didn't mind the lack of interaction with the owner/reception because they are quick to respond on the phone.
Outstanding self catering accommodation. Excellently equipped with the finest detail. Beautiful garden and mountain views. Clarens on Collett invites you to take time off and relax. Just be in the moment.
