Amazing stay! This is my second time staying here in 8 years! The accommodation really showcases the Bavarian charm. Right next to the river and close to the train and bus and supermarkets. The pool was great and the breakfast was superb. The rooms were so comfortable and lovely. We stayed here over Mother’s Day and the breakfast staff had roses and chocolates for all the moms which was a beautiful touch.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The breakfast was rich and absolutely delicious, with a great variety of options for everyone. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The town itself is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. We also visited Königssee, which is only about a 7-minute drive from the hotel—definitely worth seeing. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be coming back again!

Perched atop a rocky precipice, the Eagle’s Nest – or Kehlsteinhaus – can only be reached by an lift cut into the mountains. This one-time meeting place of the Third Reich now houses a restaurant with a beer garden – drawing visitors for the views, as well as the premises’ dark and unsettling history.

I recommend traveling by bus 838 back from the "Kehlstein...

I recommend traveling by bus 838 back from the "Kehlstein bus depature" to ZOB/Berchtesgarden Hbf. The bus schedule cannot be adhered to in high season, so take the bus that arrives first. Show your guest card on the bus.

You can park or get a bus ride to the Dokumentation...

You can park or get a bus ride to the Dokumentation Obersalzberg, and from there you can get a bus to the Eagles Nest, right at the top. You are given a ticket with your bus number on (5 electric buses go up every 15 minutes or so) and you are given a return time. Don't be put off by the cost €32 or the time you are given at the top (2 hours) because it really is well worth it. Be CAREFUL because the big boulders at the top are well worn and as a result quite slippery. This is only relevant if you want to climb the last 200 metres or so, you are taken by a lift to the top once you get off the bus - anyone interested in 20th century history or who just wants a spectacular view should definitely go for this excursion

We were one a tour and therefore only had about 1 hour to spend here. Next time I will plan 3-4 hours, and I would plan to eat lunch up there as well. I felt very rushed and wished I would have had more time. Also, go when it is a clear day. Fog set in on us while there and it kind of ruined the view. On a clear day the views are absolutely stunning.

You have to take a bus up the mountain which is fine. There is a restaurant up there. It was ok. The views are wonderful. We enjoyed the tunnel going to the elevator and the elevator because it was old and left as it was.
