The well-kept territory of the hotel, a beautiful garden, you can enjoy your time by the pool. The views of Vesuvius, the Bay of Naples and the islands are simply mesmerizing every time. The service is pleasant and sincere, you feel welcome. Special thanks to Antonio for his excellent advice and attentive help. We wholeheartedly recommend Palazzo Rosenthal and would be happy to visit again

Definitely take a bus from just outside the Pompeii Ruins to...
Definitely take a bus from just outside the Pompeii Ruins to get near the top of Vesuvius (the bus will say Vesuvius on the front) and cost maybe 3 euros tops. From where the bus drops you off you still have to walk uphill a bit (30-40 min) but definitely not the entire mountain! If you drive you have an additional 30 min walk to get to where the buses drop people off. also the bus ride takes 40-50 minutes. Much longer than I would have imagined but worth it.

The hike to the caldera not bad at all.
The hike to the caldera not bad at all. I'm 80 years old and not an athlete, but I made it with a few breaks along the way and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It helps that the altitude is lower than where I live in the States.

If you are travelling in Spring, pick a day that is NOT...
If you are travelling in Spring, pick a day that is NOT cloudy! The mountain is covered with mist and we had to wait 20-30 minutes and we got lucky with the Sun. You cannot see the Crater otherwise. Also, you need to trek 20 minutes up the sand road. Wear comfortable sneakers and pack a jacket as it is cold up there.

We love this place. Authentic Italian, but with a modern twist. We were met by Mateo, who showed us our room and did a gorgeous breakfast for us the next morning. The room we had has a large balcony/terrace with fairy lights and enough seating for a group. You can see Mt. Vesuvius from one window. Mateo drove us to a local pizza restaurant (Caino)as we arrived late, and the owner was happy to see us. We got a ridiculously large pizza and will be eating it for days.
