Grand Residence is a self-catering accommodations located in Bangkok. Sitauted between 2 BTS skytrain stations, the property is 2625 feet from BTS-Ari and 2953 feet from BTS-Sapan Khwai. I only paid 2000 for three nights at the peak of holiday season.
Go early! Gets really busy around lunchtime. Catch the sky train easy to buy a ticket from the train station and get of at BL13 or BL12. When you come out of the train station turn right! Turn Right! and follow the people. Don't do what we did and walked in the other direction :). Lucky we bumped into someone that can speak English.
Great massage parlours and really cheap - not dodgy at all. Haggle on price but don't expect rock bottom bargains. We found better deals for same 'stuff' at the stalls outside Siam Shopping Mall. Be aware that the MTS trains (to Mo Chit and from) are jam packed with 20 minute waits on a Saturday - absolutely awful train service.
See the maps available at the gate and go to the sections of things you want to buy. Otherwise it gets very confusing and is too big a place to cover. The market is there only on the weekend till 6pm.
DO NOT eat at the eateries beside Chatuchak (first thing you see beside the train station. Bland food plus they don't exactly show the prices on the menu and just make up prices on the fly, so don't bother!
This place is huge and has everYthing you can think of! It opens at 9am on Saturdays (when we went) but it's fully bustling at around 10 or 11. You would need the whole day to go through the entire market,. The downside is that since it's an open market, it tends to get very very hot. It's best to go early or in the late afternoon to night when its not too hot. If you're lucky and you're one of the first customers, sellers are more easygoing about giving a discount since they believe that it's good luck to be able to sell to their first customer.
Go here once just to experience it. Huge covered outdoor complex with rows and rows of anything and everything money can buy at a market. Tip: Check the weather forecast beforehand. You do not want to go here when there's a torrential downpour wearing sandals unless you enjoy wading through flooded streams of rubbish!
