Lodgings in Tornio

Hotelli Olof is conveniently located between the Finnish train station and the Swedish train station. My room was clean and comfortable. On weekdays breakfast starts at 6:30 AM. That was very helpful for me to get a good meal in before my early train. The staff were very accommodating in helping me transition from a late train coming in, and an early train leaving the following morning. They pre-arranged taxi transportation to and from the train stations for me. Their excellent customer service and attention to detail was much appreciated.

Room and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was quite good and plentiful. Convenient parking.

Excellent location, Excellent room (sauna suite). Classy redecoration of what appears to be an old school. A+ for the extra ceiling height. .

The overall stay was like at home. Hosts are interested in a pleasant stay, are genuinely kind and friendly. I've picked this place over the major hotels in Tornio and never regretted it. Although there is a distance to the center, it is not huge and that implies a nice walk by the Tornio river. Always looking forward to being there.

Location around the city centrum. Room was well furnished and decorated. Facilities in the appartment was beyond my expectation.

It was cheap. For somebody who never stayed in a caravan it was mostly a positive experience. It matched the supplied photos. Communication was good.

Host was a little slow on response while talking aboyt the keys.

It was charged extra costs that were not mentioned in the booking page, like pet fee (in the page it says animals are free), after complaining a “discount” was made by the owner. We had to pay this extra costs with cash.

The private sauna inside the appartment is absolutely awesome. The entire apartment is equipped with everything you can possibly think of and it is very nice and comfortable. Good bed.

COMPLICATED!! AVOID!!!! She started calling us on WhatsApp repeatedly after booking. I wanted a contact free stay outside of city center and no drama because I suffer from exhaustion. But when we couldn't avoid her calls she then started on an UPGRADE. And wouldn't take no for an answer. Talking about luxury and Sauna and so on. I told her all we need are beds for the night but she kept on talking nonstop. I had no energy for this type of drama I gave in. We had our own bedding with us because a previous stay had required that. But with the upgrade our bedding wasn't an option. So that was 30 euros for bedding (that was very used and stained) and 10 for the luxury upgrade (that was a rundown dirty apartment) and then she asked about the dogs which was 3 small toy non shedding dogs. She said usually it's 10euros per dog but she was being nice and only charging 10euros for them (dog fee I understand). Then there was the cleaning fee of 12 euros (that I just didn't pay we vacuumed ourselves and cleaned the very dirty apartment). I did mention to her about the unexpected 50euros we were forced to pay to her husband's mobilepay (or we wouldn't get the key code). She proceeded to spam me with voice message after voice messages after voice message. At this point I was overwhelmed and didn't listen to them. Finding the key box which was hanging from a gate behind the apartment building took some time too. I have traveled the world and I am not picky but this experience is the top 2 worst of all my stays ever. For a few more euros we could have gotten a pet friendly hotel with breakfast included and no cleaning needed.
