This was our favorite hotel in Japan. It is perched on a steep hillside and has a lovely ambiance that is both luxurious and authentically Japanese. We splurged on a room with a private onsen and its own deck which was absolutely fabulous. We had a car, so getting there did not involve taking a taxi from the train station in town. However, it was a bit difficult to find when we first arrived and Google sent us to a different hotel.

Our stay at Sansuiso Spa was truly exceptional. The quality of the food, the elegance of the traditional meals, and the overall attention to detail created an unforgettable experience. Every member of the team was kind and attentive, making us feel welcome from the first moment. I would like to highlight one person in particular—her name was Abe Moka. She attended us during a private dinner and again at breakfast the next day. Her professionalism, warmth, and genuine care were extraordinary. She anticipated every need, explained the dishes beautifully, and created a calm and joyful atmosphere. She was, without doubt, the best of the best. Sansuiso Spa is incredibly fortunate to have her on the team. Her service elevated our entire stay, and I sincerely believe she deserves recognition—perhaps even a salary raise—for the outstanding hospitality she offers to guests. Highly recommended. We hope to return soon.

We traveled as a family with a baby and a small kid. We got an entire small house for ourselves, with silky smooth privet onsen. We had the best homestay experiance ever (with few months traveling in Japan its quite hard to beat). It felt like visiting friends or family. We are glad we ordered breakfast and dinner, since Maki is a professional chef and made us absolutely delicious food. Even though it's not very popular destination of traveling there is plenty to do around. We can't wait to be back.

The whole building was an ex taxi noffice in traditional style. Had a cute little table for eating food. Don't expect spacious facilities, but if you are after traditional Japanese experience with home atmosphere, this Guesthouse is for you.

Spacious Japanese-style room with an exceptional view of Lake Inawashiro. The dining hall had microwaves, utensils and even portable table-top gas stoves people can use for barbeque or sukiyaki - great for a family or friends getaway. Would love to stay here again for more nights!
