Very special Japanese hotel, the staff were courteous and helpful. Make sure to book their dinner in advance or you won’t have any place, the options outside the hotel were few in the evening.

Located in Kasuga, 26 km from Takamatsu, Asan Kotonami features a terrace and views of the mountain. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and sauna, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Great rooms in a peaceful setting. Dinner and breakfast superb. Staff lovely. Wine was a very reasonable cost

A 15-minute walk from JR Kotohira Station, Kotohira Kadan offers natural hot spring baths and spacious Japanese-style rooms, some with a private outdoor hot spring bath. Hotel and room environments are wonderful. Services are warm and comfortable. Definitely recommend for a stay in Kotohira.

Note: there is a shuttle bus pick-up at the port (bus will come within 15 minutes when you call (before 6pm)) - you'll see the pick-up point in front of the low building). There are also drop-offs scheduled in the morning. Great big breakfast. Bicycle available to order.
