After the initial hustle and chaos of India, staying at Mountainview Homestay is a welcome place to unwind. Asfal and his friends are friendly and easy to talk to, and they give great tips on what to see and do in the area. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. Waking up to a view of the green trees, with a cup of good coffee is pure bliss. It’s incredibly peaceful, with the occasional playful troop of monkeys on the roof to break the silence, peeking curiously at you as they play. In short, the perfect spot to recharge before diving back into colorful, bustling India. P.S. Asfal also helped us with the next leg of our trip. He arranged a taxi driver to take us to the Alleppey, and along the way shared lots about the history of Kerala and India, tea plantations, and Hinduism. We made several stops and got to try local sweets – highly recommended!

The room is exactly like in the photos, it's beautiful, big and super clean. The owner is very helpful with booking activities (Katakali and Kalari, both worth seeing!) and always has a nice word for you. The room is 10 min walk away from the entrance to the national reserve.

George was easy to communicate with prior to arrival. He helped book a Periyar rafting trip since the website wouldn't take my US credit card. My room was huge with a big balcony attached. There was a nice size wardrobe. The bed was large and comfortable. The a/c worked well and there was a ceiling fan also. The bathroom had a glassed walk in shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure. The breakfast and dinner meals were outstanding. George took the guests on a tour of the Plantation, pointing out the different spice, fruit, and coffee trees/plants. He is in the process of building two new rooms and one will have it's own plunge pool. People may never leave the room.

One of the nicest homestays we've stayed at in Kerala. Really good price for what you get, it's a beautiful room with a really good bathroom too. The hosts were so kind, and as it was off season when we stayed she offered to make us breakfast each day (which was really delicious). Great location, highly recommend!
