The staff at Dar al Mague are so kind and helpful, going out of their way to make your stay pleasant during a time when there are no visitors in Bethlehem. The breakfast was enormous and incredible. The rooms are big and comfortable. This is a family owned and operated establishment that I highly recommend.

The hostel is exceptionally value for our money. The place is clean and comfortable with a very nice view of the mountains on our balcony. Elias was very helpful. We stayed on Jan 19 to 23 and it was winter time (-3 to -8° during the evenings and dawn). On our 2nd night, it was cold in the room but it was our mistake because we left the window open so when we came after a day tour it was very cold. However the beds were warm and the comforters were thick enough to keep us warm during the night. There was also an AC for summer days. The bathroom is clean with bidet ( hallelujah). The kitchen is superb with everything we ever needed to cook our own rice (on a stove top and caserole) and other food during our stay. A microwave to heat our food, free tea and coffee. The common area is as huge as I can think of just beside the dining and the kitchen. It was around 27 minutes walk from the border and 10 minutes from the Nativity Church as surrounding tourist sites. Would definitely recommend this for those on a budget and who wouldn't mind going in and out of the border plus bus rides, tram and train rides. Please mind that there is no lift or elevator so if you have a very heavy luggage you need to carry it through the stairs. The hotel was in an ideal location, near restaurants and convenience stores. Abed, one of the staffs is super accommodating and helpful. And so was Laith, the owner of the property made sure that we were well taken cared off. He was kind enough to include us in the dinner preparations even though we shouldn’t have as we had no prior reservations for dinner. but since they had a group that did, and we just got in (checked in) from another place, he offered to serve us dinner. the rooms were big enough for us to feel comfortable, to fit our luggages inside the room too and to enjoy our stay. The owner responds quick to our queries and our needs. We appreciate the kind treatment that Laith and Abed has given us during our stay. Thank you!
