Pet-friendly hotels and homes in Vale da Horta

My friend and I found Rita’s place completely by chance and instantly fell in love with it. What started as a spontaneous stay turned into one of those places you leave with a very heavy heart because you already know you will definitely come back. This will definitely not be our last stay at Rita’s. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. It has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that you genuinely enjoy spending time there, even when you are not out exploring the area. From the moment we arrived, Rita made us feel at home. She has a very special way of making you feel welcome without ever being intrusive, and we immediately felt comfortable around her. Both of us had just come out of a pretty stressful period before arriving, so staying at Rita’s was exactly what we needed. The peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, and especially the incredibly comfortable beds allowed us to properly slow down and relax. It felt like a little reset from everyday life, somewhere where you can finally breathe, switch off, and just enjoy being present. The outdoor areas are another highlight. The terrace is beautiful and the garden at the back of the house is an absolute dream. It is such a peaceful place to sit, read, have a coffee, or simply enjoy the surroundings. There is also plenty of space in the back garden to practice yoga, which we really loved. Everything about the house makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. And then, of course, there are Rita’s two dogs! They are incredibly sweet and absolutely adorable. They welcomed us straight away and managed to win our hearts within minutes. We got plenty of cuddles and they definitely added even more warmth and a feeling of home to our stay. The kitchen was also incredibly well equipped.

Absolutely brilliant place. It was friendlier and cozier than I expected a hostel to be. It's design makes you feel like you're in a traditional Portuguese house. Perfect location, 5 mins walk from most landmarks. You can find quiet areas for a bit of privacy to do some work easily. The people who hang out there are approachable, you can easily make friends if you want to. The staff will go the extra mile to help you out. They've got facilities that I didn't expect them to, e.g. After sun lotions or being able to rent a beach tower for €1.

Everyone was so lovely and kind. I think this is one of the most positive experiences we have had. The lovely gentlemen at the front desk were so helpful and gave great advice for excursions .. the rooms were great and clean. The housekeeping staff was so friendly and sweet. Really thank you all so much for an amazing stay!!

A peaceful, beautiful property in the countryside. Delicious breakfast, wonderful hosts, very accommodating to us and our pets.

It is very central to everything. Walk out and you are in the old village. The place was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Thank to our host for being so prompt and getting us a spare key when I had misplaced mine. Very accommodating and responsive.

Everything. It is comfortable and has all you need. Also a lot of space. The location is also very good as well.
