It was a beautiful building from 1930 well renovated. It has a great outdoor space quite rustic and has a swimmingpool. Next to the hotel in the garden they had a small restaurant with good regional dishes. They also have good wines with it. Nicely prepaired and cosy. Nice staff. Here you will also have your breakfast inside or outside. Beautiful view. Parking places at the hotel and next to the hotel. Thanks for the good experience!

The house is phenomenal. The place is exactly listed in the photos. Everything was great and we had a great stay. Everything was clean and spotless. There's also a gate to the house which made it very secure. The address of the place does not show up in googlemaps so make sure to save the GPS coordinates. I would also strongly recommend having a car to drive up here as it's at the top of the hill. The roads are narrow and steep at times but that's the tradeoff to get a nice location and view.

We came to Madeira (and stayed here) for six nights so we had a lot of time to explore the island and enjoy our stay. From the pictures, we already had big expectations but the hotel exceeded them all! The room is spacious, with a wonderful view of the pool, the sea and the sunset. Everything was extremely clean and the cleaning crew came every day to clean and tidy our room. Monica, at the front desk, was very kind and always ready to help. Furthermore, the restaurant is fantastic!!!! The food is spectacular and the staff is very attentive and always had good recommendations for us. We ate at several places on Madeira, but no restaurant could compare to the restaurant at our hotel so we kept coming back :) Having explored all parts of Madeira, I would definitely recommend staying on the south side of the island as it is the nicest and has the most amount of sun. With that said, the hotel is also on an ideal location for exploring all parts of island. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Madeira. Even though hotel itself was amazing, the staff, especially Alex and Juan really made our stay at Engenho Velho special! They were always ready to help and we really enjoyed our small talks :)

The property is very spacious, with good furniture, fantastic view and warm swimming pool. There is more than enough space for 2 cars in the drive way. The kitchen is fully equipped. The view from the balconies is just mind-blowing. Overall house design and floors planning is fantastic. Every room has it’s own bathroom. Kary was super helpful with good communication

The sea view was absolutely incredible, as was the infinity pool, the location is perfect for watching the sun set. The comprehensive breakfast each morning was great. Proximity to the Cascata dos Anjos waterfall and Ponta do Sol is great. The hotel manager was very accommodating and keen to help, and the rooms are cleaned super quickly it's usually already made by the time we finish breakfast. Hotel is quiet so it feels very peaceful and spacious. Hot tub by pool is lovely for sun set.

Villa is huge and well equipment. You have everything there what you need. (Even slippers and hiking sticks!) You can enjoy the sun and take a dip in an amazing outdoor swimming pool with the incredible view of the village and the ocean. The view is just breathtaking. Ana’s place has a private big parking in front of the house. You have to drive down from the main street, just be careful because GPS was leading us around, from the other side throughout a narrow banana trees alley where you can't pass😅

Friendly staff, clean and cosy sea view room. The indoor swimming pool and sauna facilities were clean and available to use - which I did! Bar staff was friendly. Dinner and breakfast buffet were solid nice meal options, great quality for value.

A charming and welcoming place for those whose emphasis is on nature rather than luxury. The swimming pool was big enough to swim in circles :) The blooming gardens were a real pleasure and the scenery was fantastic. Exceptionally clean with all we needed. The access by car was a little challenging but became part of the charm of Casas Tipicas Lovely helpful and welcoming hosts. Thank you to Leo and Amnon

Perfect location with a beautiful view, large rooms, comfortable beds, very clean. A quiet neighborhood. Tasty breakfast but almost every day the same. You can order pancakes or an omelette with toppings. The hotel has a small gym, an indoor swimming pool and sauna, and a terrace on the top for sunbathing. Friendly and helpful staff. You could leave your car in the underground car-park for free. The evening with Madeira dances was very nice. There are bars and restaurants around the corner.
