Boasting a hot spring open-air bath, Hotel Sakurai is located a 10-minute walk from the Yubatake hot water field. Guests can enjoy swimming in the outdoor pool during summer. Dinner and breakfast was all you can eat and the food was fabulous. There were so many variety that I couldn’t sample them all but what I did have were all delicious. In the morning they had fresh squeezed orange juice where you can see the machine squeezing the oranges. How much fresher can it get. Refreshing and Delicious! Relaxed in the huge onsen and enjoyed the oar and drum performance. We had to leave early in the morning and the hotel was able to accommodate our request and shuttle us to the bus stop at a non scheduled time. Thank you Sakurai hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Boasting open-air natural spring baths that look out to the surrounding mountains, Asaya provides chic Japanese accommodation that displays flower arrangements throughout. Our stay at Asaya went above my expectations. It was located in a quiet area of Nikko. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and welcoming. They even spoke English which was very helpful since we did not speak Japanese. Our room was beautiful with a great view over the river where sometimes we saw monkeys. The beds were extremely comfortable and the onsen was heavenly! The meals (breakfast and dinner) were buffet style. It was nice seeing all of the other visitors in their attire provided by Asaya. The food was delicious and they offered cuisine from different regions - Japanese, Chinese, Western, etc. The Inn and hotel/customer service culture is very different from the United States and the staff at Asaya really made us feel welcome. If you are a foreigner like myself don't let that hold you back from staying at Asaya. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and hope to return on our next trip to Japan!

The room was large and very pleasant - and very Japanese in layout and bedding... The staff was incredible - going out of their way to make us comfortable and help out. Booked a private onsen which was outdoors under a roof in a big rainstorm - delightful experience. And the little counter shop in the bottom floor had great food and a wonderful woman running it - even if we had no Japanese schools and she had little English - but made us feel completely at home.
