The room was beautiful, the bed was comfy, the view from the balcony was perfection. Canmore was stunning and the Malcolm was walking distance and driving distance to everything. Do yourself a favour and have a chat to Danielle the concierge if you need any advice on hikes or things to do. She is very passionate about her job and was great on advising us on all things great suited to us in the area!

Lovely hotel in the very nice town of Canmore. We had a spacious room with a balcony and mountainview. The hotel and the room were very clean and looked cosy and welcoming. Very nice lounge with free coffee/tea and a glas of wine in the evening. We absolutely loved staying here and were a bit sad we had to leave…

It was fun to wander through the shops and we had terrific meals at Park Distillery and 3 Bears Brewing. Our final stop in Banff was drinks on the Rundle Bar patio at the iconic Fairmont which was spectacular. The Mt Norquay chairlift was the perfect “skyview” opportunity and avoided the crowds, offered easy free parking, and the Cliffhouse Bistro at the top made a perfect afternoon snack spot…highly recommend the pretzel! I did not find traffic to be a problem driving, but realize we were NOT peak season!

Over the last 26 years of traveling to Canmore and Banff we have noted the extremely active growth in Canmore. While we understand the need for accomodations, it seems to be overwhelming at times. Prefer the early Fall days when things are a bit less crowded. Never the less who could not enjoy the beauty of the mountains, lakes, rivers, canyons and the very kind people. Take the opportunity to go up the old highway 93 to Lake Louise, it will put you into a serene piece of mind.

Castle Junction is a wonderful location for exploring Banff, Lake Louise and the northern Icefields. The location is central, the road in and out provides some wildlife sightings, and the canyon hike is nice.

We loved exploring the beautiful landscape of Banff.

We loved exploring the beautiful landscape of Banff. We had a private fishing excursion, on Lake Winnewanka with Banff fishing Tour and Dillion as our captain. He was extemely friendly and knowledgeable. We were fortunate that the sun was shining and Lake Winnewanka's color was breathtaking. Although Lake Louise is noted for its color it was extremely crowded for viewing and hiking along the trail so spending time on Lake Winnewanka was an unexpected find! Also booked a nature ebike tour and the scenery was lovely. Had cocktails sitting outside at the Banff Springs hotel overlooking the majesty of the Canadian Rockies! Enjoyed the museums in town, visiting shop and wonderful food at The Boss and The Bison.

Cute town that would have let me relax were it not for a work trip this time. Cruise downtown, get out into the sun, and venture out into the surrounding nature: rivers, glaciers, hills, and mountains.

Banff is very beautiful and the only town in the area.

Banff is very beautiful and the only town in the area. It is also over run with tourists. There are the typical souvenir shops plus excellent quality clothing stores, quality jewelry and very good quality art and photography galleries. Bear street and the modern shopping mall have some excellent galleries. Also some excellent restaurants. Ignore the crowds and enjoy one of the most beautiful towns in the Canadian Rockies.

When we last visited Canmore in 2015, it was a good alternative to staying in Banff which is more expensive and a lot busier, and I fell in love with its location. Since then though, a lot more holiday and residential accommodation has been built and the quiet, small town vibe has been lost and it is more like a busy mid-sized town where demand for parking, tables in restaurants and even pavement space is a battle. The view of the mountains is still glorious though but it is no longer the place that I would love to live if I could.
