We always stay here when in Halifax. We had a very spacious suite with a wonderful view. Two large flat screen tvs also. Excellent leisurely breakfast with lots of choice. The price was so reasonable too - one wouldn't get accommodation in a two bit hotel in Ireland for what we paid. I love the Cambridge Suites. Fantastic location and friendly, welcoming staff.

We spent one day in Halifax.

We spent one day in Halifax. We stared our day early at the opening of the halifax citadel. Get there early as there is only 80 parking spots. There were plenty of fun activities there. I spent 25$ and got to shoot an Enfield black powder gun 3 times. There was a signal gun shot at 12 pm. Currently there are military bands staying at the citadel and you can see them practice, and they perform at 1230pm. We then drove to one of the major parking lots at the boardwalk. It was closed due to a stage being up up. My advice is to look up a parking garage and park there. Don't bother with parking lots because the traffic is crazy cramped and busy. We ended up in a parking garage on the top 8th floor with like 3 spots left. this was around 1pm on a Monday. The boardwalk has gone down in niceness. The restaurant i took my group from Australia was closed down.

We went to the Freight Shed for a late lunch.

We went to the Freight Shed for a late lunch. We wanted halibut. It was expensive so we were surprised at how small the piece of halibut was. We went home and were still hungry. We went to the local ceilidh in the evening. We invited friends expecting to sing and dance and enjoy an evening together. It ended up being a crowded concert. Even though it promised song and dance, we only got music. The musicians were very good but did not know how to use the microphones. One spoke too close to the mic and it was painful to hear. We left at the break. It was not the fun evening we had expected. They should call it a concert, not a ceilidh.

The reception was good and as I was there for a short time, the staff were helpful to give me advice on things I could do and where I could go for shopping. The room was clean and warm and that made my stay enjoyable. The distance from the airport and the shuttle services were appropriate for me.

Walking along the streets and along the harbour road taking in the vintage houses is lovely, eating at the Salt Shaker and Beach Pea (tip eat early by 5:00), kayaking at nearby Blue Rocks, and walking the beaches at Hirtle Beach and Kingsburg Beach were all favourites.

Lots of interesting places to visit , everyone is super friendly and welcoming. On the way to Inverness, the beach is one of the best places. The lighthouse in Cheticamp isn’t worth the drive in the gravel road, and not the nicest lighthouse, there are many others.

Sydney is a town with many interesting buildings and things to do. The harbour front is interesting to visit as is the Titanic museum. The Memorial University campus is very expansive and its botanical gardens a site to see. The streets are a bit confusing to navigate by car but a map helps! We ate several times at the Newfoundland Embassy which serves pub meals and at Boston Pizza where the atmosphere is comfortable and the fish and chips excellent!

I loved the small town vibe, along with the welcoming and friendly spirit of this quaint, sweet place! I was there to watch my son compete in the Special Olympic Summer Games and also took in some sightseeing. Enjoyed the market and Peace By Chocolate! We LOVED our accommodations, the quiet and the beach!

We LOVED our accommodations, the quiet and the beach! Most restaurant food was very good. Loved whale watching and the gondola. Would have like a continental breakfast as there were no restaurants within walking distance. Also, restaurants close too early and many ran out of food so decided to close! 150 people at the pizza place (because no place else was open with availability) on a Sunday wasn’t fun.
